In Mikkeller we have over the years done many collaboration brews. However, the last one we did was a little unusual – we collaborated with the Swedish tattoo studio Crooked Moon. The two brothers Jacob and Jonas Pedersen that run Crooked Moon Tattoo in Helsingborg wanted to celebrate their tattoo studio’s first birthday with a big party, and what could be more natural than to do it with a beer in their own name? The two brothers have designed the labels for this beer. And therefore this beer comes with two different labels. One by of Jacob, and the other by Jonas. The beer is just like a Crooked Moon tattoo: strong and powerful. In this case we are talking about a violently hoppy double IPA with 9% alcohol. You’ll find Crooked Moon / Mikkeller DIPA find on draft and bottled. The picture show the two labels – Jacob’s label design to the left and of course then, Jonas’ to the right.En dobbelt india pale ale.
Ingredienser: vand, malt, (pilsner, pale), humle (amarillo, citra, nelson sauvin, simcoe, sorachi ace), og alegær.

33cl bottle. Cloudy orangish colour with a thin off-white head. Orange and grapefruit in the aroma. Average carbonation and medium body. Taste is really bitter with some fruity notes that hide nicely the alcohol level. Overall, a very good beer.

Drank with Kaspar 23-6-2015. An okay beer. Not as complex and rich as some of Mikkeller other IPAs, but still a nice one. I enjoyed this beer.

33cl bottle at home from Only Good Beer, Budapest. Body is hazy orange, head is medium, off-white, average lasting, good lacing. Nose is fruity, flavor is grapefruit, spices, tropical fruits. Light sweet, medium to heavy hoppy bitter. Finish is long lasting hoppy heavy bitter, light alcohol warmth. Full body, soapy texture, average carbonation. Not that easy, strong hoppy beer, great one.

Dimmig persikofärad öl med ett givmilt äggviteskum. Fruktig i doft och smak. Framförallt persika. Bara lättare karamelltoner. Känns lätt för att vara en dipa.

Cloudy medium orange body with a large, egg-white, long-lived head that ends up as a fully covering film and some lacings. Strong aroma of generic fruits, fermented peach, spices, herbs and alcohol in the back. The flavour is strong, but it has far less overripe tropical fruits and caramel than most DIPAs. The fruity notes are generic and the caramel is in the background. Obvious elements include spices, herbs and alcohol that is too sharp, a bit stinging, bordering on solventy and medicinal with traces of rubber. The taste is moderate sweet and heavy bitter. Full-bodied, smooth and syrupy texture, soft carbonation. A bit disappointing for a DIPA lover like me.

Bottle from Cornelius. Hazy golden body with a thick off-white head. Lively carbonation. Excellent lacing. Aroma of lemon zest, orange pith and pineapple. Flavour of orange, flower petals, underripe pineapple and an earthy, peppery finish. Good bitterness. Medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. An outstanding DIPA - very clean and drinkable.
