In Mikkeller we have over the years done many collaboration brews. However, the last one we did was a little unusual – we collaborated with the Swedish tattoo studio Crooked Moon. The two brothers Jacob and Jonas Pedersen that run Crooked Moon Tattoo in Helsingborg wanted to celebrate their tattoo studio’s first birthday with a big party, and what could be more natural than to do it with a beer in their own name? The two brothers have designed the labels for this beer. And therefore this beer comes with two different labels. One by of Jacob, and the other by Jonas. The beer is just like a Crooked Moon tattoo: strong and powerful. In this case we are talking about a violently hoppy double IPA with 9% alcohol. You’ll find Crooked Moon / Mikkeller DIPA find on draft and bottled. The picture show the two labels – Jacob’s label design to the left and of course then, Jonas’ to the right.En dobbelt india pale ale.

Bottle from the Malting Pot. Ixelles, Brussels, Saturday 21st March consumed at home Sunday 22nd March 2015 Great spot from Loz to notice this as we were on our way out of the store. Warm gold orange colour, quite a slick and thick mouthfeel. Some tropical fruits but also fresh summer fruits peach and apricot, really peachy in fact, we both really like it. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9

330ml bottle from Mikkeller webshop. Orange amber colour, foamy white head leaving lacing and aroma of fruity mango & orangey hop resins. Taste is malt caramel balanced with mango hoppy, mandarin citrus and spicey resiny woody bitterness. Oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Very drinkable DIPA.

Bottle, Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Hazy orange pour with a small off white head. Hoppy snout with notes of ganja, citrus and pale malts. Fullish mouthfeel with softish carbonation. Sweet flavour with a good dose of fruity hoppage present alongside some booze and pineapple. Very well poised and balanced. Tasty beer that is hard to fault.

Ho assaggiato la versione alla spina: un bouquet di frutta davvero vario che mixa bene il fruttato da esteri e quello piu esotico dovuto al luppolo. Lho trovata veramente equilibrata nonostante i suoi 9 gradi.

Birra dal bell’aspetto, abbastanza amara con un retrogusto discreto. Classica IPA da bere in tranquillità. I 9 gradi si sentono tutti.

Pours orange and cloudy with some white specks - maybe yeast - and a small white head. Aroma is a mellow blend of pine and citrus rind. There might be a faint aroma of fermented oranges or it could be the color playing mind tricks and leading me to believe that. Taste is grapefruit rind bitterness up front with mellow sweet orange flavor hitting you at the mid that leads you to a tangerine rind finish. The bitterness that lingers throughout the whole palate is almost chalky in nature. This is a substantial DIPA and really good.

Tap at Beer Hunters. Hazy orange color, good creamy white head. Gooseberries, alcohol in the nose. Medium-bodied to full-bodied. Fruity, citrus, funny candyish fruits. Lingering bitterness and then some alcohol. Interesting but not really my kind of dipa.
