In Mikkeller we have over the years done many collaboration brews. However, the last one we did was a little unusual – we collaborated with the Swedish tattoo studio Crooked Moon. The two brothers Jacob and Jonas Pedersen that run Crooked Moon Tattoo in Helsingborg wanted to celebrate their tattoo studio’s first birthday with a big party, and what could be more natural than to do it with a beer in their own name? The two brothers have designed the labels for this beer. And therefore this beer comes with two different labels. One by of Jacob, and the other by Jonas. The beer is just like a Crooked Moon tattoo: strong and powerful. In this case we are talking about a violently hoppy double IPA with 9% alcohol. You’ll find Crooked Moon / Mikkeller DIPA find on draft and bottled. The picture show the two labels – Jacob’s label design to the left and of course then, Jonas’ to the right.En dobbelt india pale ale.
Ingredienser: vand, malt, (pilsner, pale), humle (amarillo, citra, nelson sauvin, simcoe, sorachi ace), og alegær.

Very lively hazy golden beer which took a while for the head to settle. Aroma is tart mango. Flavour is tropical but somewhat sweeter, though there is a hoppy bitterness which undercuts all that too. And it ends up with a dry, tropical fruit flavour which lingers too. Really good.

Bottle. Golden, cloudy, average and mostly diminishing head. Moderate to full, malty and sweetish aroma, light - some caramel and tropical fruitiness, some grapefruit – piney hoppyness, light alcohol. Body is medium to full, malty and lightly sweetish flavor, faint caramel and tropical fruitiness, grapefruit – some piney hoppyness, light alcohol. Finish is average, malty and dryish, faint fruitiness with lots of piney - some grapefruit hoppyness, light - some alcohol. Really well hopped dryish IIPA - not too sweet. Bit too much alcohol in the finish considering the body. Could also use bit more fruitiness.

Great beer that taste fantastic. I love the mixture of fruity taste and the bitterness that it gives.

On tap at Taps Trondheim, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Nose is robust, with notes of oranges, resinous hops, caramel malt and some booze. Flavour follows through similarly, with robust resinous hops, caramel, and booze. Very malty for a IIPA. Not exactly my thing but it’s very well-brewed. Great stuff.

(bottle - 750 ml) Cloudy orange with a puffy head. Herbal and hoppy bitter aroma with some caramel at the back. Very different and unusual flavor. Very herbal with a lot of bitterness and a light citrus hint at the finish.

Capped 750 shared by Marcus. Pours hazy apricot with a creamy off-white head. Aroma suggests herb/cactus. Med + body. Flavor is strange herb/cactus/? - and it’s fairly dry. Citrus peeks out. Gets light stone fruit with a bit of time. Quite different. Quite good.

Bottle from City Beer. Pours cloudy golden woth a thick off-white head and a citrus aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor with a really nice hop profile. Lots of citrus and bubble gum and quite bitter.

Bottle. Moderate roasted and caramel for the malt, heavy spruce grapefruit and orange for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with notes of pineapple and pepper. Head is average to large, frothy, off-white with some spots of lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky, medium amber/orange. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, oily with a lively carbonation. Besides the citrusy hops in this DIPA I like how the sweetness hangs on from start to finish.
