4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tap at Mikkeller Tokyo. Big aromas of dark roasted coffee with lots of chocolate, dark fruit, malt and some mustiness. Taste is more of the same with the coffee a center stage, but some prune, currant and dark plum shine as it comes to room temperature. Body is perfect for the style with a slight creaminess to it. Finishes with bitter coffee and a hint of tart fruit. Wonderfully complex.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep black pour with a one finger, creamy to oily head that has good retention. Aroma is big on dark fruit, fruity booze and smooth, spicy and nutty coffee, dark and bittersweet chocolate, some intense dried berry and spicy sweet bread. Flavor is deep dark fruit, molasses, earthy herbal and woody notes, bittersweet chocolate, mild mushroom savory character, dried peppers, cooked squash, dark caramel, and a bit of grilled tree fruit. Heavy body, creamy to chewy entry, light, but blanketing and fairly sharp carbonation and chewy, but more oily and sticky finish. Damn good stuff overall.

30 May 2015, tap at Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Festival. black. Nose is soft but prominent coffee aroma that isn’t bitter. Med body and moderately fizzy. Actually has some Asian spice to it. Not really hot but very unique. Complements the coffee very well. I like it.

Really nice and strong. Strong aroma of roasted coffee and alcohol. Very dark and it looked thick, because it was thick. Creamy and smooth. Roasted malt, chocolate, earthy, woody and of course, coffee. Really good.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle received in a trade with BenH, straight from his bag of obscurities - when I put this in my wants I wasn’t expecting to ever get it so grazie! Pours black with a slight mocha head which soon recedes to a ring around the glass. Aroma is strong black coffee, some malty sweetness, hints of raisins and other dried fruits from a similar category. Taste is mild coffee, slight red wine, vanilla, slightly smoky notes which lead to a semi-dry buttescotchy and cocoa bitter finish. Full body with a creamy and sticky finish.
