Bottle at the no Greg tasting, courtesy of Harry, shared with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, Jerc, and Mabel. Dark yellow, big bubbly thick head. Nice. Pleasant aroma - soft malt, floral notes, some faint hops. Good taste - rather hoppy up front, nice sweetness behind it, really orange citrus fruity. Simple yet very good.

Bottle from Sam’s Clybourn. I think it is fair to call this an imperial pilsner. Distinctly German, but Pilsner nonetheless. Pour is a hazy gold with rambunctious head. Tasty and bitter, huge noble hop aroma, a little bread. Mostly, though, this is really hoppy and bitter in a clean, somewhat astringent way. Pretty nice, but far from perfect.

Good stuff but dangerous in its drinkability. Hiccup.. Hop happy. Bready, not really. Nice palate, but it is not really a pilsner, though it is good.

The Dan Journal #197. Tasted 7/10/08. 750ml bottle. Clear with a dark golden hue. Clinging ring of trace white head. Spicy hoppy aromas. Medium bodied with high effervescence and a big grapefruit hop character. Nice bitterness.

From a 750 ml bottle. The body is hayz dark amber orange with a thick lightly yellow tinted head. The aroma is strong with sweet pears and some celery. There is also a little bit of nutmeg. The taste has some rich notes of canned peaches and a light cinnamon spice finish. There is also some toasted almond that comes through in the finish. For a big beer, this is really drinkable.

750ml bottle from Bruisin Ales, Asheville, kindly delivered to me by my bud Turdferguson - thanks, Sam! Big pour, with a fluffy head and pale translucent orange. Very spicy hops on the nose with some mild fruits backing it up. A trace of booze right in the front as you begin to taste it, with some crisp, weirdly gin-like notes in there. Lots of pepper, maybe some Hallertau hops here? Full and creamy mouthfeel, but I just don’t find the beer to be that interesting.
