Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

Bottle. Pours with a clear golden body and a rocky bone colored head. Aroma is hoppy with fruity notes caramel and table sugar. Taste is lightly bitter, floral and fruity. Medium to light carbonation. Good beer.

Cloudy yellow/orange with a tiny white head that settles quickly to nothing and leaves scant lacing. Aroma of flowers, grass and fresh bread dough. Classic Mikkeller hops at the start and finish. In between is lots of malt and yeast. Very straightforward. Thick and chewy, great body. This does not resemble a pilsener. Very nice, better on draught than in the bottle - smoother with less apparent alcohol.

Bottle. quite enjoyable beer. Tame tasting but with that Mikkelller affinity for hops. Caramel malt driven, 8%? didnt seem like it at all. Nice golden colored brew

Tasted from a bomber bottle, purchased in early 2009 (assumed 2008 bottling). Very light pitted fruit aroma. Also a very light yeasty smell and slight lemon zest that could possibly be attributed to hops. As the beer warms, there is a slight caramel maltiness that comes through. The color is orange with a light amber tint. The beer is cloudy with a frothy, off-white head. The beer has a slight sweetness which I think shows the higher alcohol content. It is quite bitter, and has a sour lemon flavor that lingers for a while. Medium body, slightly oily. Average carbonation with a longish bitter finish. This is a beer of great pedigree, and drunk at it’s peak, would get a much higher score. This bottle is simply a little past prime drinking. The most fun thing about the Draft Bear is the lemon essence that goes from light on the aroma to strong on the palate, and even comes through with the oily texture.

75cl bottle. Hazy orange to golden and slightly hazy beer. White head is huge, rocky and white in colour. Enormous amount of fruity and floral hops on the nose is something to experience: peach, lemon, sweet orange, honey and fresh pine needles. Toffy and caramelly maltiness give balancing sweetness. Clean and crisp pilsner-malty finsh. The alcohol is totally absent. Some pea soup-like off flavor appears when it gets too warm. The taste is dry and very bitter, but the amount of malts used cuts the sharpest edge. Palate is medium bodied and surprisingly smooth. Long and bitter finish. Top-class drinkability. Delicious, dangerous...

It poured a hazy golden liquid with a big foam that left lots of lacing. Smell and taste was very fruity with hops, passion fruit, peaches. Medium body and medium bitterness. Very nice! Best lager ever!

750 ml bottle. Golden orange colour, thick and foamy off-whte head. Very pleasant aroma of citrus and other fruits, pine and some sweet malts. The flavour is malty, with a little caramel, some citrus fruits and a warm, dry and strongly bitter hoppy finish. Delicious.
