Bottle. Black body with a nice beige head. Aroma of caramel, oak, roasted malt. Taste of fresh roasted coffeee beans, toffee, vanilla, smoke. High viscosity, and a nice staying sweetness through the vanilla and coffee aftertaste. Very nice!

UPDATED: APR 5, 2014 Bottle @ home. Black pour with a HUGE tan head. Smells gross. Green apple, pickles, and bleach. Super oaky. Slight maple sweetness, lots of roast, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet pickles, roasted malt, and candied apple. This is terrible. Oak, booze, and a touch of maple syrup on the finish. Scours the tongue. No thanks.

Thanks to errl for sharing this bottle. Black pour with a brown head. The aroma and flavor have some big, heavy roasted malt notes as well as some chocolate and a bit of pine, or some other resinous, dank note. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Habanero (2163) - Tranbjerg, DENMARK - FEB 14, 2014
Bottled. Poursblack with an average, fair lacing, tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and slightly roasted malt. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry with some alcohol. Medium to full bodied, oily to syrupy texture and soft carb. An excellent strong porter.

Ataraxia (303) - Massachusetts, USA - FEB 12, 2014
Black, opaque, dense cappuccino froth. Malt chocolate, hints of maple syrup, sweetened coffee, and toffee. Quite sweet, but not in a heavy or viscous manner, followed with a lighter woody twang. Creamy but disappointingly thinner than expected, and well carbonated. Finish is a little dry, bitter, and mildly boozy.

375. Thanks, M! Pours a heavy and opaque jet black with a dense and creamy tan head. Odd sweet nose; thereís residual sugar competing with a nice natural maple scent. The maple is complex and thereís a surprisingly tart hint in the background that throws things off. Not an infection, not metallic. Smells like something from the maple I would say. But it keeps it from being a coherent beer. Creamy thick body with soft carb. Roasty sweet malt sugar with intense maple syrup on the mid palate. Long tangy sweet finish.

Have to say that adding a splash of St Bernardus Abt 12 to this took it from being a nice curiosity to being a near-masterpiece.

SlackerMads (1243) - DENMARK - FEB 4, 2014
Bottle. Pitch black with a large good lasting and lacing creamy light brown head. Chocolate, cocoa and light alcohol in the nose. Same notes in the aroma with some roasted malt, very light coffee and wooden notes. Close to full body, medium sweet and bitter, soft/medium carbonation, creamy texture. Warming finish with lingering cocoa notes. Very pleasant, goes down quite easy and doesnít feel to heavy or sweet though it is a big beer.

Bottle: thanks, Kevin! Very deep brown color, nearly black once itís in the glass with a mocha-cream head on top that quickly disperses to a thin ring around the edges. Aroma has notes of whiskey, lightly tart black currants, mild roasted malt, faint cocoa dust, & a touch of sweetness coming from somewhere. Donít get much (if any) maple syrup on the nose. Taste is more robust & a little less sweet than the aroma would indicate. Bourbon/whiskey again, very forward, with tannic oak, dark chocolate, & finally a good hint of lightly sweet maple syrup leading into a finish with licorice, mild cola, wood, & faint nuts. Itís on the thin side for a 10% ABV porter, but itís not too detrimental. I would have liked a larger maple syrup presence, both in the aroma & the flavor, but still a very nice beer altogether.

Pailhead (4416) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - FEB 1, 2014
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, molasses, fruit, coffee, and light maple syrup. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a two finger tan head with decent retention. Thereís a good amount of soapy lacing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with chocolate and molasses. There is some light fruit in the middle. The finish has equal parts maple syrup and coffee. The maple syrup really lingers on the tongue. Itís medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, I imagine Iíd like this more than most as Iím a big fan of maple syrup flavors in Imperial Stouts.

Pitch black frothy espresso head. Insanely coffee forward nose. Like very raw bean like. Taste. Less maple than I expected. Loaded with coffee but kind of cheap grocery store coffee. Lots of booze. Maple is almost nonexistent. Charcoal and candy corns.
