Aroma of malt, caramel, dry roast, oak, some vanilla, ripe fruits, Sauternes. Flavour is medium sweet, a bit tart. Finish is dry and sweetish. A bit on the thin side. The barrel aging is quite obvious. It’s just too bad it didn’t result in a better beer.

Bottle, 375no. Thanks to nilsas. It’s a clear brown beer with a minimal sized, dense, beige head. The aroma is roasted and lightly vinous, with a faint chocolate touch in the back. A bit boring I think, and that applies to the flavor as well. Roasted malts, some chocolate and a touch of wine. Medium body, soft on the palate. Lightly burnt finish. A decent beer indeed, with a nice vinous touch. Suffers a little from the ABV though. 140530

sulawang (641) - British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 1, 2014
Visual: Pours dark cola brown with a small creamy head, a decent layer of retention, not much lacing, some slow micro streams around the perimeter. Nose: mellow burnt sour roasted malt, woodiness (lvl-5)-pungency Attack: watery-thin/non-oily, micro bubbly-tingly Mid-palate: immediate light-med sour w/ fruity grape, (lvl-2)-sweetness, hint of funk, (MAIN) roasted malts, caramel, coffee Finish: woody, coffee, clean malt finish. Summary: Unbelievably sippable. It wasn’t the flavours that wow’d me but the sheer drinkability and complete balance that it exhibited instead.

Benzai (8910) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUN 5, 2014
Bottle shared by Joes @ weekly tasting. Dark brown color, beige head. Aroma is off, it reminds me of plants and vegetables. Taste malts, dark malts and other typical stout - flavors but the beer is a bit thin bodied. Still, it’s quite nice imo flavor wise, but I dislike the aroma. Well, not a real succes imo.
