Bottle, shared with a bunch of people at Bergen Ølfestival afterparty at my place, including Yngwie, Beer3000, Palme and the rest of Bergen Beer Geek Tasting Crew. :-) Pitch black body, big creamy beige head. Nose is licorice, chocolate, coffee and hints of roasty malt sugar tones. Taste is toasty ash tones, dark chocolate, coffee and hints of leather. Full body, medium to soft carbonation. Very nice indeed.

A-- Poured a dark cola color, settled black with just touches of ruby. Big, three finger mocha colored head. Great head retention and left lots of streaky and spotty lacing as dissipated to a thick film and collar. Nice looking beer. S-- Lots of roast, coffee and chocolate. underneath get some dark fruits and earthiness from the hops. has held up quite well for a 2 year beer. T-- Earthy, grainy dark fruit followed by coffee and chocolate. Slightly thin at first but picks up quickly and eliminates that gap. Good amount of earthy bitterness to this. M-- Medium bodied and lighter medium carbonated. Get flashes of coffee acidity in the back but this is about chocolate, roasted malts and coffee in the mid palate. Nice long lasting feel to this. . O-- When Mikkeller hits it he hits it big, when misses... you get the idea. This is a hit. Well made porter. Well hidden ABV and easy to drink. issue with this is the 1.5 L bottle. Share with friends and have a good time. Try this alone and this will get to be a bit much. Really solid US style porter that regrettably did not make the US. Would easily have again.

Bottle, magnum-sized @ thanks, Palle. Pitch black beer with a brown hue and a frothy, mostly lasting beige head. Roasted aroma of liquorice, dark chocolate, coffee and caramel. Flavor is bitterswwet and roasted with liquorice, dark chocolate and resiny hops. Roasted malt bitterness, slight acidic note, full body, creamy texture, lingering dry hoppy finish.

Black colour, reddish shine. Firm tan head. Aroma of malts, tobacco, roasted malts, chocolate and hops. Hints of ’after eight’ chocolates. Sweet malty flavour, kvas, dark chocolate and pronounced bitterness. Finish coffee, burned malts, light sweet and spicy tones. Nice.

In short: A very hoppy/bitter toasted dark ale. Very good
How: 1.5L Magnum. Consumed when approximately 16 months of age. Tasting session with Montreal gang
The look: Dark brown body topped by a medium tan head with medium retention
In long: Nose is moderately roasted, something that resemble toasted wood and wooden hops. Taste starts with crunchy toasted caramelized malts before it is taken over by the a hefty dosage of resinous wooden hops. Light notes of chocolate, dark fruits and brownies here and there. Bitterness level is in the medium-high range and the finish is relatively toasted-dry. To me this came-through more like a hoppy no-style American Strong Ale than an Imperial Porter as presently listed. Whatever it was I really liked it, a tasty beer an I could have drank the whole magnum by myself. Another winner by Mikkeller. A nice big magnum that we shared in MartinT’s living room while his young daughter who is too young to speak was staring at me and just laughed and laughed. No doubt she sees me clearly.

Black color; creamy head. Mild aroma of roasted malt, dusty, with light chocolate. Chocolate flavor, some roasted malt, quite dry. Strong bitterness, with light liquorice. Good, but without surprise.

bottiglia beershock viterbo, colore: nera impenetrabile, schiuma compatta persistente color cappuccino, al naso: cioccolato, liquirizia intensa, note affumicate, corpo presente, al palato: bassa carbonazione, cioccolato e liquirizia persistente, sentori di radice, finale amaro medio. ottima, l’avrei preferita leggermente più sapida.
