Bottle 150 cl. Pours a thick and syrupy opaque black with no head. Intense aroma where dark dried fruit and molasses domimate over malty roastiness. And already here the alcohol tickles my nostrils. Rich body - not exactly huge or fat though. Close to flat carbonation wise. Licorice and syrup and molasses and dates and always this tickling alcohol. Quite some hops for a sort of balance making this one of the super huge Imperial Stouts that is drinkable. Still a sipper though! 100912

Bottle, shared by KingCecil @ Mikkeller & Friends. Thanks! Pitch black, short lasting brown head. Aroma of big imperial stout, chocolat, coffee, bit boozy, some coconut, bit spicy of anis. Medium sweet, medium bitter in taste. I wouldnt have guessed it was 20% abv. Although it’s present, the majority is nicely hidden. Those high alcohol ones are usually not my favorite, but this one was really nice.

Huge bottle shared by Kingcecil at Mikkeller and Friends! Jet black pour with a creamy beige head. The aroma is Highly roasted and chocolate with coffee and licorice notes. The flavor is sweet toasted and bourbon like with a good load of chocolate and coffee. This is extreme but in a great way. Wow!!!! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

150cl Handbottle from BenH - thanks a ton!. Pours inky jet black with no discernable head, and no lacing. Aroma is a room-filling mix of bourbon, dark roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, dried fruits. Flavor is much the same, quite sweet, lightly bitter, with a strong warming presence from the 20% ABV. Full bodied, tongue coatingly creamy, no carbonation, lingering brandy-like warmth in the far finish. Certainly an experience!

Thanks to Peter And Jakob for sharing this. Pour deliciously black, with a large brown head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, vanilla dark ripe fruits, booze and plenty of bourbon and wood. The taste is pretty darn sweet, with a light bitterness to it. Full bodied, with a slight fizz to the carb. Slight heat, but hey, 20,1 ABV. No sweat...

Very dark brown pour.. Oh so much barrel. Lots of chocolate, marshmellow and vanilla. Such a potent nose and just SO good. Toffee too.. Mouthfeel is creamy. Taste is roasty and chocolaty and quite bitter in the aftertaste. The 20% alc is well hidden. I’m impressed. And a little drunk now..

As easy drinking as you are going to get for 20%. Huge flavours of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, molasses. Alcohol heat, but really not as much as expected. A light underpinning of roast. It’s extreme, but also highly drinkable and throughly enjoyable in small quantities!).

Pissjug courtesy of Ben. Cheers pal! Cracked this badboy open and the smell engulfed the room. So tasty. Thick, sweet vanila aroma. Oaky and Molassesy. The flavour is complex and yet rounded. You wouldn’t assume this was a freakishly strong effort. There’s a tobacco smokiness and lots of pruney raisin sweetness. It translates as marginally medicinal. Like cough syrup. The booze announces it’s presence when it trickles down your neckhole. There’s a touch of espresso syrup to it. What a beer!

Bottle sample at Chriso tasting, thanks Craig and Yespr for muleing 18/11/12. Pitch black with a thin dark head that dissipates to the edge. Nose is roast malts, soy sauce, wood, light chocolate, puff of smoke. Taste as nose with molasses, booze but expertly hidden from 20%+, bitter chocolate, dark sweet sugars, tar, smoke. Full bodied +, slightly cloying, minimal carbonation, sweet finish.

Hand bottled via Craig. I stopped rating October 2012 but owing to the generosity of people like Craig I will occasionally rate. Cheers Craig! Consumed Saturday 24th November 2012 Quite thick in mouth, very dark brown, not quite black. Whisky and a heavy aroma of burnt caramelised demerara sugars on the nose. Warms, in fact it almost burns on the way down, rich and claggy, nearly numbing the tongue and tastebuds into submission. Thick salty/sweet liquorice, ok but not totally my thing. Bottle at Chriso Tasting, London. Thanks to Craig for getting this to us. Pours black-brown with a fine, beige bubble head. Big dark malt nose, some alcohol, dark sugars, moderate chocolate. Big sweet flavor with ashy roast, unsurprisingly present alcohol, bitter charred malts, chocolate. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish with more bitter cocoa, burnt wood, char, burnt grass. Good beer.
