4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle 150 cl. Pours a thick and syrupy opaque black with no head. Intense aroma where dark dried fruit and molasses domimate over malty roastiness. And already here the alcohol tickles my nostrils. Rich body - not exactly huge or fat though. Close to flat carbonation wise. Licorice and syrup and molasses and dates and always this tickling alcohol. Quite some hops for a sort of balance making this one of the super huge Imperial Stouts that is drinkable. Still a sipper though! 100912

11th May 2012
On tap at CBC, Copenhagen. Huge thanks to Sebastien & Martin (whom I sat at Dinner with) and let me sample this treat. Opaque black beer, little tan head. Palate is soft and dry. Lucious dark malts. A little whisky. Vanilla wood from the barrel. Finishes dry and very warming. All comes together really well. I’m sure this will be a belter in a few years.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, 150cl. No 023/170. It pours a black body, topped by a small, tan head. The aroma is intense, booze, chocolate, roasted malts and a decent hoppy touch. Full body, soft on the palate, warming, and with flavors of chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Wonderful bitterness. Lasting finish. An intense once, maybe a bit too much, but damn fine. 120907

Bottle at Chriso Tasting, London. Thanks to Craig for getting this to us. Pours black-brown with a fine, beige bubble head. Big dark malt nose, some alcohol, dark sugars, moderate chocolate. Big sweet flavor with ashy roast, unsurprisingly present alcohol, bitter charred malts, chocolate. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish with more bitter cocoa, burnt wood, char, burnt grass. Good beer.
