Bottle, 37,5cL. @Naintré with JP, Coco, Zouzoute, Claude, mommy, daddy, grandpa H. A shining brown orange opaque beer with a small white head ; poor retention. Landscape : cherry acid, fortified wine "épine", roast, spice, alcohol. Medium to heavy sweet ; round ; light dry ; warming ; good power. Full body, thin texture, soft carbonation sweet lasting finish. Overall, a good barleywine ; nice aromatic landscape ; powerful.

Bottle. Plums and dried fruit on the nose. Same for taste. Sweet...but not as cloyingly sweet as some English barley wines. Makes a head of about an inch and a half poured into my snifter. A beautiful sight! Reaction to my first sip was "sweet" and I wasn’t sure I was gonna like it. However the second sip started to pull me in. After it had warmed just a bit, there was no turning back. Really delicious effort from Mikkeller. I would love to find this on tap sometime. Hope I can get another bottle or two. I had Firestone Walker Helldorado for the first time yesterday and thought it would be a while before I tasted anything that good again. I was wrong. This beer from Mikkeller is a hair’s breath from being as good as Helldorado. A damn yummy barley wine!

375ml bottle pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a finger of off-white head that leaves some spotted lacing behind. Aroma is light citrus and caramel with some big alcohol notes. I would welcome this brew as a very big brew (less than 10% acceptance.

Capped 375 from Healthy Spirits. Pours hazy caramel color with a slight whitish head. Aroma is brown sugar, wood and somewhat fruity hop. Seems a bit oxidized, but maybe that’s part of it’s charm. Full bodied. Flavor is sweet. Brown sugar, treacle ... There is significant heat. Seems to be some fruit. Really tasty stuff. I’m liking it a lot.

31 Aug 2015, bottle. orange/amber, clear, no bubbles. nose is raisin, golden syrup, wood and alcohol are faintly present. full body and moderately fizzy. wow, this is a lot different than the light toasted version. wood doesn’t bite as much, more raisin, some dark wood. rich but not as sweet, raisin with some cherry. very good!

Cloudy amber. Thin head with average retention. Complex aroma with notes of butter, malt, vanilla and hazelnut. Average sweet. You can feel the alcohol burning in the back of your throat. Full body with pleasant oily texture.

Bottle (from beergium.com). Pours amber with beige head. The head doesn’t stay. Aroma is, sweet, malt, caramel, alcohol, fruits, raisins. Flavor follows the nose. Finish is alochol. Overall: way too boozy, but was my favorite of the 3 we tried.

Bottle shared at chriso’s Easter 2015 tasting - London. Yet another monster from Ken; cheers for sharing! Pours clear gold with a white cream topping. The nose holds honey, caramel, light acetone, booze. Medium to big sweet flavor with marmalade, woody dryness, sugar, maple, caramel. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Hot finish, thick and boozy, with more syrupy caramel, jammy citrus. OK, but certainly heavy handed.

Bottle shared at Guinn’s house. Pours a light caramel color. Aroma is caramel, sweet fruits, very malty. Flavor follows with lots of dates and raisins. Contrary to other reviews, I did not find this to be boozy. Not noticeably as much as the alcohol would make one think. Overall, a nice sipping beer.
