Bottle. Lots of suspended microfloaties in this one, dark orange-golden in color and with a minimal-sized light beige head. It’s pretty boozy on the nose, with sweet tropical fruityness and syrup. Peaches, pineapple and some mango. It’s full-bodied, very warming and with a pleasant soft carbonation. Booze, tropical fruits and white sugary sweetness in the finish. Well, there’s some qualities here, but it’s way, way too boozy. 140724

Bottle 375ml @ Geokkjer
Pours slightly hazy deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, alcohol, dried fruits, tropical fruits and nuts. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, fruity, caramel and boozy finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

JorisPPattyn (7885) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUL 9, 2014
Shortlived cream-coloured head over pinkish amber, hazy beer with fine carbonation. Sharp, woody, near acetic aroma; alcohol and fusels, sweat, raisins, brown candi sugar. Bit of a mess, if certainly complex nose. Bitterish-sweet, with a liquorice overdose, overdone caramel, and alcohol. Honey, dried fruit (apricot?), fusels. Fact is that it mellows out at least a bit, taking away the sharpest edges. But not the syrupy sweetness. Retronasal apricot brandy with sugar. Sharp MF, fiery alcoholburn, syrupy slickness. Not Mikkellers’ best by any standard.

375mL bottle, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is light on the toasted oak, with apple juice-like fruits, and a touch of caramel. Flavour is similar, with lots of apple juice, followed by caramel, and medium booze. Like an intensely sweet caramel apple dessert. Decent stuff.

Light orange with a pale head. Aroma is caramel apple, apricot, orange peel. Full bodied, sticky mouthfeel, sweet on the palate with some oak and booze on the finish. Flavours are baked apple, caramel, butterscotch, burnt orange, brandy, oak.

37.5cl bottle pours with a clear deep copper body that supports a tan head. The aroma offers up big sweetness, sweet nuttiness, smooth molasses and then a stiff boozy hit near the end of the draw. The taste is smooth sweet goodness that quickly gets into molasses, brown sugar, sweet maltiness, thick sweet nuttiness and maple syrup. Toward the finish it rolls into rough and boozy notes that break up the slippery sweet onslaught a bit. Great sipper.

Pours cloudy oranger amber with low white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, raisins, corinthians, slightly boozy. Taste is slightly burnt butter, butterscotch, sweet, lightly boozy. Sweet, boozy, rich body with soft carbonation.

Caramel colored pour. No real head. Sweet? Oh hell yeah. Sugary sweet, honey, vanilla, some oak I guess. Just really sweet.

Bottle, thanks to Ronny (rlgk), split at Colin and the Vikings tasting, Nol, Goteborg, Sweden 22/03/14. Lightly hazed golden with moderate off white spotting. Nose is booze, nail polish - a little harsh, spice, dark fruits, cake mix, candied orange peel. Taste develops a little more and less of the abrasive booze tones carried on the nose, stewed prunes, dates, caramel, fig biscuit, spice. Ful bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the finish. Decent enough for the ABV but not one I’d return too, a little harsh and overly warming at times.
