Bottled. Pours slightly hazy deep golden with an average, lacing off-white head. Aroma of slightly toasted malt, caramel, dark dried fruit, vanilla notes and wood. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry with an alcohol burn. Medium bodied, oily to syrupy texture and soft carb. A very nice Barley.

Pinball (10999) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JAN 21, 2015
clear yellow, small yellow head. boozy stingy aroma, malts, burns in the nose if you sniff too fast. mild woody note, sort of flowery note. somehow do seem to have a somewhat different aroma than the centre i rated earlier. flavor is malts, bitterness from alcohol and wood, caramelly sweetness, flowery sweetness, this one seems different for sure, perhaps the barrel decided to go its own way, flavor is way more flowery an mead like than the other one. Quite tasty, but somewhat far from barley wine, as it appears light and flowery. amazing differences. some sort of apple like fruty sourness also. really weird.

magicmn (94) - Moscow, RUSSIA - DEC 31, 2014
Sweet aroma of dried fruits with some alcohol notes. Taste is malty with intensive reisin and some caramel, full body, alcohol is making this beer closer to some kind of liquor. You can feel oak in light tartness too. Interesting but not perfect.

From 0,375l bottle, BBD: 21/02/23, stored approx. for 1 year in cave. Pours hazy golden amber liquid, minimal white head, big yeast particles levitating in the thick liquid. Aroma: malty, toasted sweet bread, sweet-candied fruits, red fruits, plums, caramel, toasted wood, alcohol, warming, Taste: heavy sweet, medium bitter, dry, fruity, strong warming alcohol, spicy, wood, light vanilla Palate: full body, thick texture, average carbonation, long alcohol sweet finish, alcohol makes it less drinkable, Overall: very nice aroma, but still expected more for the price, woody and toasty notes alongside traditional barleywine candied fruitiness and plums makes it interesting, but strong alcohol prevents deep sniffing, taste is once more time fruity and toasty, but lot simpler and strong presence of alcohol makes this peace quite low drinkable. Pity, perhaps with lower alcohol this would be a more harmonious, complex and drinkable brew ... and bit less expansive.

FraekkeFyr87 (63) - - DEC 4, 2014
The aroma is very sweet and not so alcoholic as Foret De Troncais. There is also some chocolate and dried fruit as well. The taste is full of sweetness of the mentioned chocolate and dried fruit. The color is amber orange and cloudy. The finish is bitter and long and it almost numbs your tongue, probably because of the high alcohol percentage. Again an excellent beer!

37.5 cl bottle @ home. Pours hazy golden amber with some sediment and a white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are caramel, toffee, pepper, dried fruit, wood, and alcohol - with an alcoholic finish.

Lowenbrau (2387) - Asturias, Oviedo, SPAIN - SEP 25, 2014
375ml bottle @Cimmeria, Oviedo. 26-09-2014.
BBD: 2028.
In short: Boozy tasty ale.
Pours cloudy copper with little tan head. Short head retention, poor lacing. Malty, liquor, caramel aromas. Full bodied, soft carbonation, viscous texture. Taste is quite boozy, sweet, caramel, liquor, wood flavours. Really well balanced for the stong abv. Very enjoyable.
