Theydon_Bois (11458) - Tourist Town (West), Berkshire, ENGLAND - APR 15, 2015
Bottle split at Chriso Easter tasting, thanks to Kenny, 04/04/15. Golden orange with moderate off White spotting. Nose is rich caramelised fruit rinds, toffee apple, light spice, caramel, touch of booze. Taste comprises dates, figs, fruit cake, light spice, candied orange peel, caramel, earthy fruit rinds. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Ok barley wine, drinks well below the ABV, probably the best in the series for me but still not a top end beer for this style.

ChrisOs Easter Tasting. Hazy gold beer, small off white head. Palate is airy and semi dry. Spice. Sweet malts. Spicy dried fruits, turning tangy. Some heat, but not in proportion to it’s giant abv. Light semi dry finish. Spicy linger. Very similar tothe light toast, perhaps a touch more tangy. Overall this series is a disappointment, far too similar to each other and lacking much depth.

Bottle at ChrisO. Thanks to Kenny.... It pours oily gold with a small head. The nose is oily, sweet, orange, tangerine, dried fruits, toasty grain, booze and cereal. The taste is oily, hot, orange, warming, cereal, booze, apple, pear and dried fruits with a warming finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Boozy and punchy stuff. One of the better of the series.

At a tasting, thanks, small bubbly head, cloudy deepish orange color, dominating aroma of vanila with toasty notes, candy and dried apricots, flavor of dried apricots and figs, dark sugar, strong sweetness dominating with just a little sourness to counter, quite a lot of alcohol showing through but not too overwhelming. Good and enjoyable.

Bottled. Pours slightly hazy deep golden with an average, lacing off-white head. Aroma of slightly toasted malt, caramel, dark dried fruit, vanilla notes and wood. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry with an alcohol burn. Medium bodied, oily to syrupy texture and soft carb. A very nice Barley.
