This Bock from Mikkeller is called Frelser. Means Savior in Danish. The name is a subtle reference to all Bocks Mother: Salvator. Originally the monks brewed Salvator because they needed a very strong and rich beer during Lent. Do not drink this beer instead of a meal, it contains 11% alcohol.

Tap. Opaque, brown body with red/orange hue. Small ring of a head, stays a ring, and doesn’t lace. Look is OK, but the aroma is lovely. Dark fruits, dark malts, some estery yeasty fruitiness, and a generally rich and delicious aroma. Body is awesome. Velvety carbonation, fullish, not at all sticky with a great finish. Fantastic. Flavor is a continuation of the aroma, fairly malty, but not really sweet. A dark, fruity monster of a bock and it’s tastily complex and lovely.

Tasted this last years summer, bottle.
Very excellent, easy drinkable doppelbock. Alco indeed well hidden, but some warming experience. Clean and complex maltiness without any evidence of carrot like offlavors or too much dextrin. Well rounded and enjoyable. Medium to full bodied, not thick as liquid bread.

Piwo pięknie pachnące wisniowka, czerwonym winem i leśnymi owocami. W smaku sliwka wegierka, trochę nut cherry, alkohol obecny ale szlachetny, rozgrzewający i o długim finiszu. Karmel czekolada i wanillia. Troche zbyt słodkawe ale ogolnie wielka przyjemność z degustacji tego degustacyjnego piwa.
