0.25l bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. This is the blackest brew I have ever seen. Jet black body with absofruitly no head. Definetly some whiskey/bourbon in the nose, sweet, vanilla and dried fruits. This is some heavy stuff. Really oaky as hell, salt, almost red wineish. Long lasting oaky flavor that never really ends. Fully bodied and quite alright carbonated. Warming alcohol and extreme woody roastines along with chocolate and a slightly flowerish and syrupy note. Good! Tary and fizzing body. Just a truly extremely good brew that I’ really glad to have tasted. A distinct STRONG roasted flavor all the way. This is my definition of dark.

Bottle from Mikkeller & Friends bottle shop. Black color, minimal brown head. Bitter taste with nuts, espresso, chocolate, bourbon, roasted malts, oak, vanilla and smoke. Bitter finish with espresso, nuts, roasted malts and bourbon. Exquisite imperial stout.

ABT_S54 (200) - West Midlands, ENGLAND - DEC 13, 2014
UPDATED: DEC 21, 2014 33cl bottle served in a snifter. Pours an oily black liquid with a very short lived brown head. Aroma is powerful bourbon, vanilla and buttery burnt malts. Taste is sweet bourbon and vanilla with a creamy mouthfeel and a slightly bitter aftertaste. The ABV is extremely well hidden. A truly massive imperial stout and one of the finest examples I have tried.

mmahut (1106) - CZECH REPUBLIC - DEC 12, 2014
Bottle. The beer pours in very oily texture that is just black with no head at all. Aroma is complex right away, a lot of nutty toasty character right away, dark chocolate, woody, well balanced whiskey character. Amazing. Little bit cocoa too. Impressive balance. Taste has high woody bitterness, little bit too much as it’s pretty astringent, almost salty. Medium to high roasty chocolate sweetness. Body is full, low carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden.

Black, that’s all. Initially some brown foam, nothing left. Strong coffee and bourbon aroma, which did not come as a surprise. Similar strong taste, bitter coffee, bourbon notes. Perfect after dinner drink. (Arnhem 201411)

neongolden (555) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 16, 2014
(330ml bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Nov 14 2014) Pours jet black with a tiny pale brown head that fades to a ring with no lace. Aroma has lots of vanilla and dark chocolate, bourbon, light roast notes make it past that. Very full rich flavours, dark chocolate and bourbon to the fore, sweet, charred wood notes, some vanilla, hints of coffee and licorice. Wood and bourbon build in the finish with the chocolate and molasses sweetness fading a bit, char and alcohol heat providing some dryness to an otherwise sweetish palate. Rich, full creamy thick body with very soft carbonation. This is a big stout bursting with flavour and lots of barrel character. Very good stuff, dangerously easy to drink and pretty complex. Missing that certain something that makes it truly exceptional, but happy to drink again and again.

Bottle. Pours silky thick pitch black with tiny, but nice, brown head. Great lacing. Aroma is tons of sweet vanilla, roasted malts and coffee. Taste is so rich. Sweet, dark chocolate, roasted malts, and some licorice. Drinkable with smooth and creamy body! Finish has slight booze and wood.

MarcoDL (2386) - NETHERLANDS - OCT 25, 2014
UPDATED: OCT 26, 2014 Bottle. Black oily beer, no head. Delicious aroma of cacao and vanilla. Sticky mouthfeel. Taste starts with malt, chocolate and and some milky coffee. After that a wave of bourbon vanilla, which combines into a more bitter aftertaste, with a layer of cherry. This is world class. (But retardedly expensive.)
