Aroma is big and intense. Burnt wood, molasses, dark as the night chocolate. Bourbon and vanilla tones play a big role in the aroma but it seems to have an overriding green pepper note that muddles it all up. A little bit of salt comes through and it is a tad sharp. Taste is smoother with long, lingering dark chocolate, smoked wood, vanilla, bourbon and molasses. A very big beer. A little sharp on the palate and might need a little time to improve a little. In saying that, I enjoyed every minute of this, although not quite as good as the original it is still a world class brew

On tap @CBC13. Black with tiny tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, bourbon, wood and alcohol.. Taste is peaty and boozy loads of bourbon, wood and roasted malts. This should be great in a few years

Keg @ CBC 2013. The pour’s thick, oily black with absolutely no head. The aroma’s huge sweet bourbon. Plenty of brown sugar-coated wood. Vanilla. Toasted shredded coconut. Raisin cake. Chocolate syrup. THe taste is more of the same. Rocky road fudge. Bourbon sweet accents. More vanilla and coconut. Burnt brownies. Rich and inky body, thick. Loads of sugar. Overall, pretty decadent stuff.

Sample @ CBC. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are rich roast malt, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, coffee, wood and hops. Wonderful.

Bottle at home. Roasted malts and some ash. Bourbon-flavor is very present and improves the overall flavor of the beer.

Tap @ CBC2013. Dark color, short head. Again the typical George aroma of ashes and roasted malts. But then with plain simple Four Roses Bourbon like aroma’s, so lot of cookie and biscuit and not as much vanilla as most bourbons have. It’s ok, but I prefer the ones with a bit mroe vanilla.

Sampled @ CBC 2013. Opaque pitch black color, small brown head. Smell and taste malts, dark and roasted malts, clearly bourbon, just slightly alcohol and nicely sweet-bitter. Lovely beer. Great mouthfeel.

looks the same as the regular version. smells like stout candy... vinous, bs, vanilla, cream, dusty wood and roast. the flavor is the same but it has a sourness like it is going down hill.
