UPDATED: AUG 15, 2014 Bottle shared with a friend. Pours black with a shortlisting but very creamy, almost mocca-like brown head. Aroma is extremely boozy, parfumey, chocolate, coffee, licorice and calvados bourbon-like sweetness. This is my first Calvados-aged beer! Taste is extremely sweet, thick and rich of coffee, chocolate and a nice roastedness to it. Bittersweet and roasted dry finish. Good alcohol to the taste but not as extreme as the smell, which is good. Low carbonation and a thick creamy body.

Bottle. Opaque black pour with thin but creamy and tenacious lacy brown foam. Aroma is very powerful, boozy, rich chocolate notes, very intense, licorice, apple brandy. Taste is sweet, so thick and rich, sweet but not cloying, nice warming alcohol, roasty, almost smoky, really roasty bitterness. Palate is thick and chewy, nice alcohol warmth, low carbonation, really coats the palate. Nice IS

Bottle (250 ml). Shared by JulienHuxley, thanks! Pitch black with a medium thick brown head and little lacing. Aroma is boozy at first, but it then open up and it’s rich with calvados, roasted malt, chocolate/brownies, vanilla, oak and fruity notes. Taste is also rich and sweet (not cloying in small quantity), chocolate, vanilla, fruity notes, calvados, light acidity and roasty finish. Full bodied. Moderate carbonation. Thick mouthfeel. Chewy mouthfeel. Sticky roastiness. Tasty, but so thick and rich and it’s hard to drink even a small glass. Complex. Enjoyable in small quantity.
