On tap at Kraftwork. Aroma is sweet coffee, Milky Way bar, and cocoa. Pours thick and black blackity black with a very small dark brown head. Taste is just amazing. Licorice, black coffee, hazelnut, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, vanilla, oak, and brandy. Thick in the mouth with a lingering chocolate and butterscotch finish. I would gladly drink this again.

Garrold (1710) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 1, 2014
Bottle from Beermoth, Manchester. Label states this was brewed at Nogne. Anyhow... Oily black. Thin, lasting, brown head. Aroma is Old Jamaica chocolate. Leather. Tobacco. Wood smoke. Vanilla ice cream. Taste is cocoa sweet first off. Black fruit semi sweetness. Dried vine fruit, fusty dryness. Thereís even a light saltiness in there. A bitter, roasty finish evens everything up. Iím having a good beer night, tonight!

Bottle @brew night with jeevan & allmyvinyl. Pours black thin tan head, big malty nose a touch of dark cherries and some apple on the nose, also some woody notes. Taste is very much the same. Nice but nowhere near as good as the calvados.

Bottle 25 cl. Pours an opaque black with a small, light brown head - very thick and syrupy. Rich - almost fat - body. Sweet, vanillaish roast with some oxidized barrel notes - even if they are hard to detect as Cognac. Warming finish. Delish. 030414

250ml bottle courtesy of Lonick. Pours like crude oil. Tiny tan head. Aromas are boozy, apples, brandy, dark chocolate, eyes water. Taste is big and sweet, some burn, more dark chocolate. Good, but quite a contrast to the Speedway, which, at a similar strength was a damn sight smoother drinking.

Pours totally black with a small black head. Aroma is malt, roastiness, chocolate, coffee, caramel, woody notes, some cognac and dark fruits. Taste is high sweet and intense leading to a hefty but well hidden alcholic finish. Fantastic!!

Bottle pour. Pours a thick black with a khaki colored head of foam. The nuts and anise that I got from the base beer are still coming through, but thereís also a musty, earthy, sweet burn coming across in the taste. Pretty roasty overall and has a nice barrel burn on the finish. Thick mouthfeel with low to medium carbonation.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2014 Pours pitch black with a crazy dark head (easy 5). Okay letís dig into this, my expectations are very high here. Okay the first thing that strikes me in the aroma is the HUGE roasted espresso notes. Then i get smokey notes, tobacco, brown sugar, cinnamon cocoa nuts, woolen sweaters, dark rich chocolate, dark dried fruit, also some sweeter alcoholic notes (cognac) and just the characteristic George madness! Taste is just WOW. This beer gets me every time. Lots and lots of fruity coffee with alot of espresso characteristics. Also some dark dried fruits, smokey tobacco notes, dark rich chocolate, sweet english liquorice, vanilla and with a silky smooth palate. George is one Boss of a beer and this barrel is working very well!
