Bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours thick oily black with dark brown head. Intense aroma has roasted and burnt malts and toffee, tobacco, leather, boozy and sweet whisky/cognac notes, vanilla. Palate is oily, thick and rich. Taste is roasted malts, burnt toffee, plenty of chocolate, sweet vanilla and bourbon, warmth of alcohol. Sweet and intense, plenty of barrel notes - which I like.

25cl bottle enjoyed @ home. Pours pitch black with a tiny brown head. Thick lacing. Aroma is clearly chocolate, coffee, alcohol, wood, tobacco and roasted malt. Flavour is medium sweet and slightly bitter. Full bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation. Finish is smooth with a little alcohol bite. Lovely.

Black, black, black, black and black again. Oily, viscous and carrying a dark cream coloured head. The aroma of molasses, raw grapes and cider vinegar is just huge. Huge I tell you! A silky viscous mouthfeel, the beer poured like it was an oil sump being drained. This beer was every aspect of dark beer in excelsis and in ordinary circumstances ought to take an hour to drink. Wondrous.

A liquid licorice spectacular with hints of coffee and chocolate that manages to totally hide its strength. A dangerous brew - seriously dangerous.

Tiny bottle in a teku. Pours black with a small head. Aroma of roasted malts, dat yac and da barrel, a lot of dark chocolate, some notes of coffee and dark fruits, some notes of vanilla, and alcohol. Flavor the same with a very nice and complex blend, lots of roast, chocolate, and barrel. Smooth, thick texture with not a lot of carbonation, but enough. A really cool imperial stout.
