Bottled 25cl. Pitch black with a small deep beige head. Some soy sauce in the nose. Aniseed, licorice, dark chocolate and coffee throughout. Full bodied. Silky palate. Complex. Lovely cognac components. Low carbonation. Warming on the swallow.

Pours black with minimal head but leaves some nice tan lacing. This is almost the best smelling beer I've had. Dark fruits and warm syrupy booze. Taste is complex - chocolate, tobacco, fruits, ash, vanilla and pretty subtle booze for mine. I fucking love it

Bottle from Kris Wines. Black velvet. No head. Chocolate aroma. Boozy dark fruits and a BA bite, subtle though. Rich milk chocolate. Somewhat dry on the end. Luxuriousness liquified.

bottle to snifter. pour is a thick, dead flat black. Nose is slightly fruity but mostly chocolate. light cherry. Taste is initially very sweet and viscous. some light pepper that I think is the alcohol. light apple as it warms. ok, but not great.

Saeglopur (434) - Vienna Woods, AUSTRIA - NOV 5, 2014
250 ml bottle from Mikkeller Webshop.
Pitch black body, with a tiny, dark brown, creamy head, that disappears quickly.
Full, complex aroma of cognac, barrel, coffee, melting dark chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits, booze.
Taste isn’t less amazing, with dark chocolate, roasty dry coffee, nuts, sweet dark fruits, smoke, cognac, wood.
Thick, oily mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation and it finishes dry, roasty, alcoholic and with long-lasting, smooth barrel notes.

Really delicious! Complex, heavy and filling, so that this small quarter liter bottle is just enough. Overall an amazing, challenging beer, but there are even some better Imperial Stouts by Mikkeller in my opinion.

kbudd19 (706) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 28, 2014
Bottle. Thick black pour, boozy lacing, with a small layer of milk chocolate head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is oak, vanilla, rum soaked raisins, and coffee roast. Taste is rich dark chocolate, coffee, oak, vanilla, light sweetness, sticky coffee roast finish. Very decadent, better than the calvados but not by much.

Klimaet (294) - Aarhus N, DENMARK - OCT 20, 2014
Bottle. Pours pitch black with a thin dark head. Lots of roasted coffee notes, some smoke and tobacco, cocoa, some nutty notes, dark chocolate, dark fruits, lots of sweet cognac notes. Taste is freaking fantastic. Lots of espresso notes, dark fruits, just a perfect slight smoke, dark chocolate, some slighty salty licorice notes, slight vanilla and sweet cognac notes. Palate is just beyond smooth. Damn.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2014 Bottle thanks to Matt. Pours a dark brown with tan head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong wood, cognac, roast. Thin mouthfeel with nice booze, dark chocolate, wood, sweetness from cognac. Very impressive.

Pitch black as you expect the night to be. Aroma of dark chocolate and burnt molasses. Taste of figs, dark chocolate, caramel and cognac. Cognac is noticeable in the aftertaste/follow-up. Its a pairing that goes well.

Clownoisseur (264) - Buchanan, Michigan, USA - OCT 1, 2014
Bottle courtesy of bytemesis, thanks Mike! Pours a fairly opaque near-black color. A small gathering of tan bubbles forms somewhat of a head, but only for a moment before it breaks into some spotty lacing/ring on the glass. Very oily in appearance with splotches gathering at the top, along with a serious set of legs when given a swirl. Not a very strong aroma from this pour, actually. Some hints of cognac, chocolate and coffee. Taste is very rich chocolate, oils just coating the palate...coffee....hints if smoke, tobacco and leather follow closely behind. Some plum/dark fruit flavors creep in behind as well. A dry cocoa note cut through in the end, along with a harmony of vanilla and sticky molasses. A very chewy beer. Alcohol is very well hidden taboot! Good stuff for sure.
