250 ml bottle @ home. Pours oily black with some light brown lacing on top. Texture is really thick with minimal carb. Aroma is soy sauce, coffee and malts. Taste is chocolate, malts and coffee. Warming alcohol finish.

"Went head to head with Amager Hr Frederiksen as my favorite of a very good night. So ridiculously smoooth. Deep dark chocolate, roasted malt, bitter and sweet, with the rich, sweet cognac complimenting the beer nicely. As with most Mikkellers the barrel is heavy, but it definitely works in this big stout. The calvados was awesome as well, but this was even better. Probably a one timer at $17 for a tiny bottle, though.

Bottle. Pitch black with a caramel-brown head. Hugely thick aroma, fudge, cake batter, chocolate, dark cocoa, burnt malts, cognac with fruitiness. The flavour totally follows through on the exciting nose with a full body of sweet chocolate, toffee, cognac, hard roasted malts, alcohol warmth. The base beer makes a lot more sense to me now, it seems it belongs to a cognac barrel. Can’t wait to try to calvados version, amazing stuff.

(Mikkeller George BA Cognac Edition) Bottle 250 ml at home, poured into a small snifter, ABV 12.12% Pours totally black and very thick. A very thin line forms around the glass, plus traces of foam on the surface. Aroma is heavy on alcohol, sweet, wood, faint brandy. Vanilla. Taste is also boozy, roasted malts at first, light vanilla, finishes very sweet and with lots of chocolate. Again the cognac is quite faint or discreet I shoul say. The chocolate cake on the finish makes up for that though. Full thick body, soft carbonation, sticky on the palate. Very good.

Solid thick viscous black with a dark chocolate head. Aroma is liquorice, coffee, chocolate, oak, cognac, dark fruits, soy sauce, blackcurrant. Full bodied, thick and velvety mouthfeel, smooth, sweet and complex on the palate with a long oily roast finish with well integrated booze. Taste is chocolate, coffee, liquorice, cognac, oak, fig, dates, charred meat. Oh yeah.

250ml ml bottle courtesy of angst. Thanks. Pours a dense opaque black color with a small brown head that soon dissipates to a fine ring. The aroma is big and bold with chocolates, molasses, dark fruits and cognac. The taste mirrors the aroma with dark bitter chocolate, chocolate liqueur, anise, raisins, dates, molasses, charcoal and bitter walnuts. The palate is thick and viscous with soft carbonation. Finishes long and dry with lingering molasses. Overall: incredible, just incredible.

25 cl bottle courtesy of Alex. Thanks! Pours motor oil pitch black with a thin chocolate tan ring for a head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is very complex. Has dense chocolate pudding, espresso, dark roast coffee, a bit of caramel mixed in for good measure. This stuff coats the glass like motor oil, too. Very heavy and dense mouthfeel. Flavor follows the nose and has layers of complexity to it. Upfront is espresso, followed by dark chocolate pudding, more dark roast mixed in, and has a lingering finish with some smoke and a very slight touch of alcohol. The alcohol is very well hidden in this for the ABV. Overall, a fantastic brew and a great way to start off my secret Santa box. Cheers!

2014-07-08. Black body, near headless. 3+ Aroma of moderate alcohol and cognac over dark malt. Flavour is rich, dark malt, warming alcohol. Moderate alcohol and cognac character. Average bodied palate, low carbonation. cognac is relatively restrained but doesn’t necessarily add to my enjoyment of it either. Bottle, Tasting at cgarvieuk’s, Edinburgh
