3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
black with thick brown legs, this beer is really charry, too much smoke and ash on the nose and taste, the beer tastes barrel aged due to the alcohol but you can’t differentiate the cognac, ok, but nothing special

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle pour. Pours a thick black with a khaki colored head of foam. The nuts and anise that I got from the base beer are still coming through, but there’s also a musty, earthy, sweet burn coming across in the taste. Pretty roasty overall and has a nice barrel burn on the finish. Thick mouthfeel with low to medium carbonation.

25cl bottle at home. poured at cellar temp. pitch black with a very small non lasting mocha chocolate head. intense aroma of cognac soaped red fruits, dark roasted chocolate.thick syrup mouthfeel, burned espresso beans, ash, caramel, oak, bitter coffee, cognac, quite boozy, boy this beer is so smooth. and way better as the calvados edition.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours pitch black with a crazy dark head (easy 5). Okay let’s dig into this, my expectations are very high here. Okay the first thing that strikes me in the aroma is the HUGE roasted espresso notes. Then i get smokey notes, tobacco, brown sugar, cinnamon cocoa nuts, woolen sweaters, dark rich chocolate, dark dried fruit, also some sweeter alcoholic notes (cognac) and just the characteristic George madness! Taste is just WOW. This beer gets me every time. Lots and lots of fruity coffee with alot of espresso characteristics. Also some dark dried fruits, smokey tobacco notes, dark rich chocolate, sweet english liquorice, vanilla and with a silky smooth palate. George is one Boss of a beer and this barrel is working very well!

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle delivered to my front door by Brewdog on-line shop. Pitch black pour with a meek tan head. Nose had notes of dark fruit, booze, malts, cognac and dark choc. Similar characteristics present in the taste alongside some roast and unfolding bitterness. Full bodied and smooth. Classy offering which does everything right.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pitch black with a medium sized dark brown head. Good lasting and lacing. Sells like molasses, dark chocolate and alcohol. Salty licorice and oak in the aroma too. Taste is near heavy sweet and medium bitter. Full body, fat and creamy texture, near flat carbonation. Great, great, great.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Black body with a small dark brown head, very nice! Aroma of vanilla, roasted malt, raisins, alcohol. Taste is sweet, toffee, cognac, chocolate, roasted malt. Warm alcohol finish. Leaves a roasty licorice aftertaste. A great beer, though I actually don’t think it’s as good as the regular George.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a small dark brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma consists of slightly sweet black chocolate notes with some light Cognac notes and light roasted notes. Taste is a great mix between some nice creamy black chocolate notes with some Cognac notes and some light roasted malt notes with well-rounded finish. Body is full with nice creamy body and good carbonation with no alcohol being easily discernible. Very fine used of barrel-aging to smoothed out any rough edges of base beer.

1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
Bottle 25cl shared by 3 people and we could not finish it. Reminded everyone of aged soy sauce and kinda tasted like it too.
The aroma had coffee, roasted nuts and what we thought was aged soy sauce.
No head to speak off that is dark brown in colour but leaves quite some lace. So thick it pours as if it has lumps in it. Oily black.
Very heavy in the mouth and on the tongue. Not much carbonation. Very burned bitter aftertaste that luckily does not last too long.
Tastes of burned coffee and not much else, with very pronounced alcohol hit after every sip.
The calvados version was slightly more palatable and more nuanced.
