Bottle, 06/04/2014. Pours black, dark tan head fades almost immediately, nearly no lacing. Aroma is intense espresso, charred roast chocolate malt, cacao, leather, mildly earthy cherry, fruit notes, peaking through, wood. Taste is chocolate, dark cherry though not overly sweet, licorice, espresso roast, long aftertaste with resinous cherry, cacao nut bitterness. Medium thick body. More roast character than expected, cherry adds subtle accents to the base, intense dark bitterness.

Bottle bought some place I can’t remember. Pours oily pitch black with a small dark mocha head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet, malty and boozy with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, charred wood, cherry stones, dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, piri-piri peppers, moist hay, soil and alcohol. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter, malty and tiny fruity with roasted malts, burnt caramel, dark chocolate covered cherries, dark roast coffee, charred moist wood, burnt wood, chocolate syrup, alcohol and soil. Mouthfeel is oily, round, roasted astringent and full bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter, malty and slightly fruity with roasted malts, toffee, dark chocolate covered cherries, dark roast coffee, burnt wood, hay, moist soil and alcohol. Nice chocolate cherry taste but the nose disappoints.

Bottle from Vinspecialisten Aalborg shared with Simonsen & Carsten
Pours like used engine oil, thin laced brown head. Smell of dark dark malts, roast, liquorice and cherries. Heavy sweet, liquorice, chocolate, roast, coffee and cherries. Moderate bitter finish. The cherries works excellent with this heavy heavy stout. It’s just another wonderful beer in the George series
