At a tasting, thanks, very treacly pour, almost no head, opaque black color, aroma of smoke, dog food and cedar, flavor of chocolate, cocoa and some earthiness, quite sweet, making it a bit difficult to drink. Good for what it is, but not my thing.

Pours a viscous, completely black color, with almost no head. Leaves back a nice, beige lacing though, with some alcohol legs in the centre of the glass. The aromas reveal a gentle apple warmth among oak and malt infused earth. Also produces a cinnamon quality, resulting from the warm, alcoholic apple, accompanied by the pleasantly pronounced, slightly biting barrel. This gets topped off by a milk chocolate frosting, creating a rich, enjoyable nose. Has a very low carbonation, showcasing the beers very smooth mouthfeel, as well as its full body. Drinks almost oily. Tastes of earthen, toasty malts, turning sweeter as silk milk chocolate gets introduced to the taste. Cinnamon, as well as warm wood, becomes visible then, turning the taste a tad sweeter, without pushing it too far by any means. Apple rises from the barrel, producing a well integrated alcoholic warmth, immediately wrapped up by earthy, roasted coffee. Its peak of cinnamon, apple, chocolate, charred malts and coffee is a delight, leaving the palate satisfied, with long lasting coffee in the finish. A great beer, revealing a fantastic mix of different, well composed flavors, preventing itself from becoming too extreme in any particular way. Its got a pleasant bite to it, perfectly coated up by smooth chocolate.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Max’s place. Black with a brown head. Great aroma of chocolate, vanilla, wood, some fruitiness, caramel and a boozy note. Sweet flavor with chocolate, caramel, vanilla, wood, some calvados, and a bitterish finish with roast and an alcohol touch. Full-bodied. Great.

Bottle @ uiltje bar. Black oily pour, no head. Strong aroma of boozy cream, chocolate and some licorice. Taste is rich and heavy, with creamy cacao, mild salty licorice, boozy fruit, apple and some vanilla. Gets better after some time to breath out. Thick soft mouthfeel. Abv is dangerously well hidden. Fantastic tastebomb, but ridiculously priced.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma and taste are malts, roast, dark chocolate, alcohol, some wood, a hint of bourbon or at least a similar sort of liquor. That said, this beer is not straightforward at all. Well what’s to explain. Can’t argue with some beers.
