Pours a menacing, viscous black producing a very dark brown head. Looking really serious. And the smell makes it even better. Agave, wood, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and a whiff of alcohol. Taste is sweet but far from cloying. Roasty with woody, leathery notes and chocolate. The tequila-barrel thing was more evident on the nose actually, but gives of a pleasant note in the taste as well. Full bodied, softly carbonated and thick on the palate.

McNeillR (1576) - SCOTLAND - NOV 28, 2014
Pitch brown, light greasy dark tan head with a little greasy lacing. Big nutty cinnamon and little booze with backboard of roast. Creamy, light nutmeg and a tinge of a woody burn. Rich, lightly syruppy. Roasted enough, not a massive tequila vibe.

Bottle, Flu Jab Tasting

Bottle thanks to Kenny. It pours jet black with a minimal tan head. The nose is rich, sweet, chocolate gateaux, roasted malt, coffee, tequila, toasty, tar, mild spice and molasses. The taste is rich roast, coffee cake, booze, treacle, desk chocolate, tar, charred wood, pepper and light tequila with a warming finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Rich and boozy dessert stout. Rather nice.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Kenworth. Pours oily black with a creamy brown head. Rich dark roast nose with tons of dark fruits, brown sugar, chocolate. Medium to big sweet flavor with a bit of charred wood, burnt earth, ash, baking cocoa, thick chocolate mousse. Full bodied, dense and chewy, with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with rich dark, dried fruits, more bitter chocolate, lots of bitter scorched wood. Lingering heat. Good stuff.
