33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 23.05.2024
Vertical with cherry & calvados
Aroma has cocoa and sweet buttery tones. Also mild herbal tones and hints of soy sauce. Flavour has stinging alcohol, sweetness, some ripe fruits, phenol and sweet fruits. Also plastic glue. Alcohol is sharp here but somewhat nice slow sipper still. Sweetness disturbs a bit.

33 cl bottle.
Pours pitch black color with a small beige head. Mild barrel notes on the nose, dark berries, maybe some licorice and dark malts with faint choco, some faint dark fruits too. Flavor is sweet chocolate, dark roast, coffee and bourbon, some vegetable-kind of notes and wood. Alcohol moderately well hidden. Decent.

Bottle at home from De Bierkonig. 13th September 15. Pours black, thick glutinous, Aroma is liquorice, coffee, liquor. Taste is liquorice, coffee, bitter, lots of sweet caramel, liquor tempers the sweetness. Thick, rich mouth feel. One big bastard of a brilliant beer

Pours blacker than a steer’s tookus on a moonless night, with a tight tan head. Cocoa, coffee and booze on the nose - smells incredible. Sweetish up front, dark chocolate, vanilla, coffee, woody booze but it does not feel like a 15% beer. Fantastic

33cl bottle shared by Arve_Christian - thanks a lot! Pours used motor oil black with a dense, beige head. Roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, some dried fruits, hints of coffee and again; cocoa! Sweet with noticeable alcohol, but still somewhat balanced. Tasty stuff!

On bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika, October 2014. Pitch black color, some foam. High aroma intensity; leather, licorice, barrel influence, lightly roasted and some subtle tequila aromas. Full body & high complexity. Quite sweet, balances ok. Very enjoyable ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle thanks to bursprak. Pours inky black, small brown secondary head that leaves a nice ring and decent lacing. Rich aroma of anise, chocolate, molasses. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter, a tad boozy, chocolate, molasses, anise and tequila, with a bit of a roasty note. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. This comes together well, and other than being pretty damn hot, may be the best tequila barrel beer i have had to date.

Bottle: Chouffe glass: Pitch black motoroil body with a small brown head. Aroma is a rich and strong mix of roast, liquorice, cookies, tequila, coal, raisin, marzipan, sweet soy, some mocha, dark chocolate... Flavour is a great creamy mix of roast, cocos, wood, some tequila, coffee, wood roast, dark chocolate, some marzipen/praline, cookies, bit spicy, deep dark black beer! Aftertaste is roast, coal, coffee, bitter, tequila, wood roast, marzipan... Low carbo, thick oily mouthfeel, full bodied. Great stuff! Serious great stuff!

Pours as thick as the other version, while producing a bit more head. Smells of cocoa nibs, earthy malts and a well pronounced barrel bite. The barrel produces a milk-chocolate coated heat, together with a whiff of lemon and coffee. Also has a fitting, low carbonation, perfectly revealing the beers full body. Drinks dangerously easy, hiding its abv very well, while offering a plethora of different flavors. Tastes of bakers chocolate, oak and dusty earth, immediately wrapped up by tequila in all it facettes. Lemon, salt and a fruity, hot dryness blend into milk chocolate, more earth and oak. Also features unsweetened cinnamon tying tequila and the base stout taste together, creating an awesome, unique taste. Less sweeter than the Calvados version, while the barrel comes perfectly through, illustrated by the silk stout foundation. Ends quite dry, with lots of cream and peppery lemon, coated up by cinnamon and chocolate. Wow, this leaves me stunned, exceeding all expectations. Perfectly integrates a high class Tequila in all its details, blending just perfectly into the stout part of the beer. To top this awesome melange off, the beer also features a good amount of cinnamon and warming barrel creating a fantastic complexity. Awesome mixture, perfectly executed, resulting in a breathtaking, fantastic balanced beer.
