Black body with a dark tan head. Noticeable liquorice though not overdone, coffee and chocolate in both aroma and taste. Full in body , alcohol warmth, a little syrupy but a delight to drink.

Seriously pitch black with a thick, dark brown head. Aromas of tar, burnt caramel, prunes/dates/raisins, as well as a fair wiff of alcohol. Incredibly thick, luxurious mouthfeel. Flavours of freshly roasted coffee, tar, bitter chocolate and rich fruits. Finishes with intense roast bitterness which dries out any malt sweetness. Length is incredibly. A truly magical beer.

Nose is unbeliably good - soy sauce, vanilla, chocolate and rum. Doesn’t quite pull that off in the mouth. A tad thin but quite smooth. Chocolate and soy in the mouth. Very good but I’ll stick with the black hole which is unbelievable.

Nickls (1657) - SE DC, Washington DC, USA - AUG 25, 2010
Bottle. Jet black hue with a really rich dark tan head. Coffee and lactose sweetness in the aroma at first, some light booze, and bittersweet chocolate, light roast. Dark roasted malts shine in the flavor, chocolate, hint of licorice in the finish as well as some smoke. Thicker body that poured like oil. Really damn good.

Abio (1334) - Waasland, BELGIUM - AUG 19, 2010
Pours out pitch black. A nice medium sized dark brown head that holds pretty good, and sticks to the glass. Roasted smell of coffee, caramel and chocolate. Pretty decent smell, real imperial stout-smell. Some sourness from fruits comes lightly trough. Bitter taste of roastiness, chocolate and coffee, also at the tasting the somehow weird sourness comes up. Bitter hops. Decent brew, not the best, but very tastefull.

Bottle. Black as coal with a low low thick pale brown head. Molasses, milky chocolate, biscuits and coffee in the aroma. Full-bodied with fat notes of sweet dark chocolate, Arabic coffee, salt, burnt sugar and chocolate sauce. Long full, almost sticky finish of dark chocolate and burnt sugar.

On tap. Pours an opaque pitch black with a light brown head. Very solid hard roasted malt accents in the nose with some licorice as well. Very solid body, very intense burned malts and again licorice and also sweet vanilla. Distinct malt bitterness. 070510
