Tap at Mikkeller Tokyo. Huge nose with dark fruit, molasses, maple syrup, cacao nibs and dark milky chocolate. Some bitter roasted malt comes out as it warms, but very fruity, syrupy nose. Well-balanced on the palate with a slightly oily texture with a heavy, rich full body. Soy sauce, sorghum and rum raisin cake come out. More chocolate. Wow. Fantastic.

Bottle; pours black with a thin brown head; aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, dark fruits, and hints of coffee and wood; taste is bittersweet with chocolate, licorice, and roasted malt with some hints of licorice, coffee, and wood; finish dry, slight bitter, and some roasted notes; very delicious

Bottle as simply "George", without the exclamation mark! Pours a dark body with a minimal tan head. Aroma has dark tarry notes with some cocoa. Thick oily mouthfeel. Intense tarry taste with licorice and dark chocolate. Very hoppy too. The hoppiness is kind of overdone - after a while the finish starts to feel almost salty, which is not nice. A bold Imperial Stout but too bitter/salty for me. But I can see why some people love it. I can say it pairs well with sweet spiced almonds and presumably with other desserts too!

Pitch black and oily with dark, rapidly disappearing head. Amazing and rich aroma: Belgian pralines, dark chocolate, freshly roasted coffee as well as dates, cherries, fruity notes, bit of licorice and some burnt flavours. Harsh bitterness and pleasant sweetness together. Very long aftertaste. Maybe too much alcohol can be smelled but well, it’s more than 12 ABV, and probably it just need the touch of time to balance out. Great beer!

Pitch black beer, non-transparent with rather poor head which reduces itself almost immediately to just a ring. In aroma awesome rum notes, a lot of chocolate, a bit of coffee, roasted, toasted notes as well. Aroma is very deep, very well balanced with just a slight touch of alcohol which is quite amazing since is 12,12% abv beer. In taste it never ends. The beginning is smooth and calm full of delicate chocolate notes. But as it’s heading to an end it’s starting to be very aggressive, harsh - much more dry and bitter. The aftertaste never ends. It just stays in your mouth with bitter coffee flavors for ever. Alcohol only pleasantly warms the stomach. It really is an awesome beer. Can’t wait to try BA versions.

On Tap at Hair of the Dog, during their Star Wars event so this was the Empire beer very fitting rep for the Imperials. Pours black like tar with light and dark two toned head, taste of licorice and soy with some dark chocolate and vanilla, a master piece and will rule the galaxy.
