4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Lady, this IS an imperial Stout. Poured at a good temperature with a nice, thick, slightly creamy, brown head that settles after a bit and a little lace. Color is an opaque brown black. Aroma is a little subdued and has roast, malt , earth, leather, dark ripe fruit. Flavor’s like nose, tang is in front, bitter right behind and dominating, then some sweet. Body is velvety and perfect carbonation. Finish is like flavor, very long, has a bit of an off taste, and only a hint of alcohol. Monster of a beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at home. Pours an oily black color with a small reddish brown head that leaves some lacing. The aroma and flavor have rich chocolate, roasted malts, dark fruit, hints of coffee, molasses, some char, and a splash of anise. The alcohol is warming, but this did not come off as being boozy. Good mouth feel and body. This is one of the few beers where I had the barrel treatments first, then the base beer. I enjoyed this quite a bit.

This is a huge, complex beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Not much of head to speak of, the medium brown, tiny layer is very short-lived and vanishes almost completely, leaving nothing but a ring. The beer is black as tar and looks thick and viscous. The aroma is strong and dark roasted, with dark caramel, strong coffee, tobacco and liquorice. The taste is moderate sweet and the long-lasting finish is quite heavy bitter and pleasant. Very strong flavours of dark roasted coffee, almost burnt notes and in the back I get some unusual organic notes that I find hard to identify: is that green olives? The alcohol is extremely well integrated. Full body, thick and oily texture, soft carbonation. Brilliant beer!
