olio (6799) - Tampere, FINLAND - FEB 6, 2015
33 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Konttori.
Pours pitch black color with a barely visible off-white head. Very dry and refined wall of aromas on this one, burnt malts, dark chocolate, cocoa and faint coffee notes, some licorice and distant raspberries on the background.
Very roasty and malty, lots of dark chocolate and cocoa on the flavor, faint vanilla, raspberries are present too, salty salmiac notes on the finish.
Alcohol comes through a bit at the end but there’s plenty of sweetness too complement it. Thick and oily palate. Very complex and rich. An excellent slow sipper.

Opaque. Deep, rich coffee/cocoa aroma, some roastiness. Heavy almost viscous body. Bold malt, roast and coffee flavors with some chocolate underneath. Hop bitterness comes on strong, building to the finish, with what seems like some spicy heat. Eventually finishes clean, but bitter notes don't give way too quickly!

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at Ølhus København, Helsinki, 20150131) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, cocoa, liquorice and sweetness. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were liquorice, burnt malts, saltiness, dark chocolate, mild fruitiness and medium bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, sweet and bitter. At the same time complex and still rather straight forward brew. Well done.

Beautiful looking beer. Pitch black with a dark brown head that rises before quickly receding to nothing. Complex aroma of roast, tobacco, leather and booze. Taste is roasty, hoppy a tad bitter and earthy with a touch of heat at the end. Perfect palate - thick, oily and smooth all at the same time. Overall I loved it; my only objection is the bitterness. Some aging would probably take care of that. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
