Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy tan head. Clear aroma of roasted malt, coffee and liquorice. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt, chocolate, and coffee, complemented by touches of fruit and pronounced roasty notes. Lingering roasty aftertaste. Warming alcohol presence. Rich body and creamy mouthfeel. Really good.

On tap at The Partisan DC. Pours a complete black, thick, with some tight, creamy, brown head. Nose has a nice mix of malt sweetness, some licorice, burnt brown sugar, chocolate, dried fruit there too, raisin, black pepper. Flavors are the same, a bit of umami in there, raisins, dried blueberry, malt, licorice, toast, brown sugar. Full bodied, but dry and drinkable.

Mooie zwarte kleur met een goede bruingoude kraag. Ruikt koffie, chocolade, gebrande mouten, bitter en iets vanille. Smaakt vol, koffie, gebrand, chocolade. Giede alchol namsaak, iets bitter. Lekkere dikke strucuur.

With Zach and Brandon watching the USA vs Azerbijan soccer game, pours a rich dark black pour with a small head. Nose is malt , chocolate, dark coffee , black licorice and alcohol. Taste is chocolate, malt, and licorice as well, and heavy and thick on the palate. Finish is moderately long and ends on the same tasting notes. Quaff Score 8 / 10

2014 bottle to a tulip glass. Pours pitch black with a small, dense dark khaki head with brown and ruby at the edge. Aroma is grainy with a little soy/Worcestershire (kind of a sweet BBQ sauce. Some over-ripe dark fruit and roasted malt. A little chocolate. Taste is dark chocolate, vanilla and cherry up front, then fades into a sweet roasted malt and molasses flavor that is surprisingly grainy. Ends with with a sharp coffee bitterness with notes of grassy and floral hops. Velvety smooth, thick mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
