Black pour under a chocolate brown, medium-sized head. The head doesn’t stick around and leaves a slight amount of lacing. Big alcohol nose. But that is balanced with a big sniff of chocolate, malt, dried dark fruit and slight vanilla. Creamy chocolate at first, with a big chocolate malt with coffee following. It’s like a milk chocolate truffle covered in coffee. Slight warmth from the alcohol. And there seems to be a tinge of licorice in the aftertaste, along with toffee. This one is pretty darn good.

250ml bottle thanks to savvy1982.
Appearance : Pitch black with big dense creamy dark brown head. Awesome head. Nice lacing.
Aroma : Rich coffee with roasted malt. Licorice, rich hops with some alcohol. Raisins. Rather sweet.
Taste : Roasted malt with big coffee and resinous hops. Finish rich and intense roasted malt with hops and coffee. Rather warm with some bitterness and some sweetness. Rather sweet finish.
Overall : Very tasty and packed with flavor but a bit too sweet and a bit cloying. I think the bourbon version was a bit better (which is a bit surprising) because it felt a bit less sweet. Still the finish is very nice with all the coffee and the hops. Very long finish. Perfect bottle format. A little bit too much alcohol also.

Bottle. Black, small tan head. Salty, malty, and smoky. Licorice, coffee, chocolate. Perhaps molasses, if memory serves. Rich mouthfeel, complexly textured. Winner.

A wonderfiul imperial with molasses notes and complexity that improves with the temperature warming. Marvelous wonderful beer

Scopey (5542) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 12, 2011
Bottle at the CP&K with the rarely seen Duff. It pours opaque black, with a thin dark tan head. The nose is salted liquorice, smoke, bonfire, smokey bacon, roasted malt and varnish. The taste is tar, salted liquorice, varnish, ash, burnt tire, massive roasted malt, treacle, smoke, tobacco, big alcohol, rich-roast coffee and salted caramel, with a very long roasty-bitter finish. Full body, fine carbonation, complex and well balanced. A massive stout.

[10/5/11] Bottle at Cafe Viking in Copenhagen. Black with a lovely bubbly brown head with some dark brown dots. Aroma full of bitter chocolate, espresso and a bit of alcohol. Bittersweet burnt flavor with chocolate, espresso, a hint of fruits and some alcohol that becomes more noticeable in the dry finish. Rather full-bodied.

Rating #635, flaske fra Toft Vin

Udseende: 4/5

Derudover må man give Toft Vin ret i deres varebeskrivelse: Tyk, tykkere, tykkest. George.

Alt i alt: 18/20

Bottle at home. Had this loads of times and its always a pleasure. Pours opaque with a brown head. Lovely and roasted aroma of sweet caramel, vanilla, chocolate and a hint of tobacco. The flavour is hard roasted coffee and liquorice balanced with caramel and a hint of bitter hops and alcohol. Think bodied and with a long roasted liquorice after taste. Great beer!
