Bottle as Xmas present from my mom, thanks mom. Pour is blacked out all the way with a medium rich brown head. Aroma is huge milk chocolate malt with faint fruit and a touch of alcohol. Flavor very true to nose with the addition of cocoa, faint vinous notes, earthy notes, and just the faintest funk. less alcohol than aroma. Reminds me of Mikkeller Black without the burn. Awesome stuff.

Må kjøpes i vinterferien!

Bottle. 11.11%. No ’best before’ date. Pours black with a brown head. Bit of lacing. Nice aroma; dark fruits, roasted, a bit oxidized, hints of vanilla, a bit of liquorice deep down. Well-balanced. Flavour is bitter, roasted and a bit tart, with coffee and dark fruit notes. Tart, bitter coffee finish with a light alcohol burn. Light liquorice note as it warms. Overall quite good. 30.01.14.

Damn fine stout. Pours black as hell, thick like motor oil. Even the head is almost black! Sweet roasty and warming sipper.

Dark black body and thin brown head, very beautiful to behold. Aroma isn’t super intense but nice. Dark roasted malts. Taste is very roast and it’s not really coffee roast to me, it’s more just dark chocolate and roasted malts. Not very sweet, all roastiness. Excellent stout. Another winner from Mikkeller.

Bottle shared with northropfrye. A celebration of coffee and chocolate both in aroma and in taste. Mocha froth. Deep dark chocolate in colour. Both lively and smooth palate. I love this beer a lot and wish I didn’t have to share with northropfrye except that I love sharing with northropfrye.

January 22, 2014 - bottle from Randall’s. Black pour with nice amount of tan head that lasted and spotty lacing. Aroma was roasted malt, chocolate, sweet dark fruit and some alcohol. Taste interestingly was dominated by the sweet dark fruit, some chocolate in there and the roast and dry alcohol in the finish. Medium to full bodied and relatively smooth.

Pours completely black with a lovely, creamy, beige head that leaves light laces on my glass. Aroma is smokey, sweet, roasted, dark chcolate and only a hint of viniousness. Medium carbonation, fine creamy mouthfeel. Flavour begins with some roasted and blackberry tartness, then turn dry and roasted with lots of dark chocolate. The relatively high tartness surprises, but doesn’t detracts as it makes it far more drinkable. Lingering, bitter dry roasted finish. Nice. Bit of an alcoholic burn, but this might be better when you let this age a little bit. Excellent brew.

1/19/2014. 12 oz. bottle. Pours black with a thin beige head. Roasted malt aromas with chocolate and licorice. Thick and robust, full body. Chocolate flavors, a bit of alcohol on the finish, but otherwise long, dry that just hangs around.
