Pour out of 12 oz bottle, bottle from Discount Liquor Milwaukee. Thick oily lack pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of dark cocoa, anise, some dark fruits into nice brownie batter, cake like notes, sweet molasses notes, nice. Taste is a ix of dark chocolate, toffee, nice molasses into slight vanilla, roast, coffee, hints of dark fruits and anise but slight at most, finishing fairly bitter, nice roasted notes.

Bottle. Pours black with fading rust-colored head. Aroma is dark chocolate, coffee. Taste is caramel, coffee, raisin. Coats the tongue and lingers with alcohol warmth. Going to look for the variants now!

Bottle. Black pour, with a bubbly tan head. Chocolate, dark roasted malt, ash, coffee, alcohol heat, burnt brown sugar, and some bitterness. A big heavy slow sipping imperial stout.

Pours almost black. Small brown head, mostly dissipating into a small ring. Nice complex aroma, sweet with a great roastiness, really stands out. Caramel, awesome dark chocolate, some coffee, hint of dark fruit. Very cohesive. Full creamy body. Lovely. Great development. Sweet, moderate bitterness, and perfect roastiness. Great lasting finish. Alcohol neatly hidden away, with a little warmth on the backend.

very smooth, creamy, malt, chocolate, coffee, caramel. rich and complex aroma. Some alcohol in the taste, but very similar to aroma. A little maltier, something a little light and sweet towards the end, not quite sure what. Very nice.

Pours black with a brown head. A thick blanket of foam built up slowly and prettily as I poured the glass. However, the head dies away to nothing after a few minutes, and I’m left with a flat glass of black liquid. The aroma is a mix of chocolate, molasses and roast, in that order of strength. It’s sweet cocoa heavy, but there’s depth and complexity hiding in the chocolate. Mild cola note. Taste starts sweet with burnt brown sugar and dark chocolate. Lots of dark malt flavor. Finish has some pleasant hop bitterness and roast. I find the term largely useless, but the beer has good balance, which is to say the flavors mix well together and nothing dominates. Never gets too sweet or too bitter. Thick feel. Big mouthful of stout. Solid imperial stout.

Bottle from Capitol Beer, Sacramento. Pours dark brown with almost no head and a treacle and chocolate aroma. There is a very rich chocolate and dark molasses flavor with a slight amount of heat (chili pepper?). Strange and delicious.
