0,25l bottle as gift from Denmark. Opaque, black color with medium, creamy, dark brown head, which disappears quickly. Sweet, alcoholly odor followed by roasty, smoked malt flavours. The aroma is incredibly smoky and roasty. At the beginning itís sweet and caramelly, but after the firs impressions itís dry and tastes like a roast pork. Itís definitelly made with a lot of smoked malt, which causes this meet flavour. It must had a lot of chocolate malt too which makes the color so black, but it doesnít make the beer sour and bitter. Alcohol and honey flavours also appears. Dry, intensive and complex taste, nothing can dominate, but all the three basic flavours (sweet, sour, bitter) appears. Full bodied with oily texture and light carbonation. Roast pork finish. Itís an interesting beer. Surprisingly complex, incredibly oily and full bodied. This beer is dominated by the malty flavours, and from this view itís the opposite of the Mikkeller Black Hole, which is a "hoppy imperial stout". Itís a concentrated beer, 25cl is totally enough. The alcohol content isnít too high, and it canít be felt as dominant in the aroma. The texture, the body, and the malty flavours make this beer this rich and concentrated.

Tasted together with calvados ed. Black body, espresso head. Aroma of roasted malt, alcohol, dark fruits, dark choco. Oily and thick on the palate. Taste of coffee, bitter choco, maltsweetness. Alcohol in finnish. Much the same as calvados ed. but less on everything. Have to rate it lower but a great taste.

Bottle @ home. Pours pitch black with a tiny leather brown head. No real lacings. Aroma is roasted coffee, chocolate and sweet liquor. Taste is sweet, full of chocolate and roasted coffee, licorice and slight tobacco. Full body and light carbonation. Mouthfeel almost oily or creamy. Excellent dessert beer! - with thirst, Niklas

Bottle from the Bierkoning. Not sure why I hadnít rated this before. Oily black pour with thin receding brown head. Aroma is so rich and decadent, potent dark chocolate aromas, roast coffee notes, boozy, but invitingly so. Taste is sweet, roasty, so rich, mellow, rich boozy notes, toffee, coffee, dark chocolate, never too bitter, never too sweet. Palate is rich, syrupy with a thin silver lining of carbonation that does just enough to aid drinkability without interfering with the cozy mouth-warming feel. Really, really nice stout.

Draft at Uber. Pours dark, thick, almost purple in the right light (by which I mean beneath a neon sign). Tan head, good retention. Aroma: rich. Chocolate at the forefront. Deep roast, almost smoky. Meat, leather, tobacco and a bit of soy sauce. Taste: meaty - thick and viscous, surprisingly not sweet -- intense bitterness, like somebody baked fudge brownies but forgot most of the sugar. Long roasty bitter finish. Chili peppers and teriyaki as well. Pretty fucking intense. Palate: thick, viscous, chewy. Overall: an over the top imperial stout. Can only imagine how hardcore the barrel-aged versions are.

11.2 oz bottle purchased at State Line, and shared with Huhzubendah. Pours a black with light barely passing as a focused ruby hue. Aroma is smoky roasted malt, chocolate and anise. Flavor is rich and complex: dark roasted malts, chocolate, cigar, tobacco, and anise. A great beer and a night ender!

Woo hoo looking forward to this one. Thanks Dave. The beer appears near black with a half inch of head the color of wet sand on the beach. Aromas include dark chocolate, a large malt bill, Danish roast. Super malty and thick with a healthy roasted malt presence, followed by bitter chocolates and a touch of warming heat in the finish. Cognac George is one of my favorite stouts, and while this beer lacks that amazing complexity, itís still damn good.

(Bottle). Wonderfully pleasant and rich aroma of dark chocolate, dried fruit, barrel aging and brown sugar. The taste is great with flavors of chocolate, fruit, roasted malt and oaked vanilla notes. Warming alcohol in the finish, but maybe a bit too intrusive. An impressive beer!
