COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mikkeller’s tribute to the green gold.

Pours a dark unfiltered muddy brown pour with a small head. Nose is sweet bitter citrus with pine. Taste is thick and hoppy with well balanced caramel and malt. Finish is bitter sweet and ends on the same tasting notes. Not your typical IPA ! Quaff Score 7 / 10

Bottle. Pours an amber orange with atan head and sweet aroma of hops and resin. Taste is bittersweet, of hops, resin, pine, citrus, grapefruit, and floral notes with a dry, bitter finish.

It poured a surprising deep amber with a white head. The aroma had a combination of wonderful fruits in the hops, but wasn’t at all sweet, a wonderful aromatic balance. It drank amazingly, superb savoury bitterness, only the lightest well balanced sweetness and finished with a fruity tang.

Aroma of blackberries & blueberries. Deep, sweet, malty start with a whole load of citrusy, piney hops to finish. This beer is class from the gypsy brewer. Rated by BrewTom

I can see why this gets mixed reviews but I like it. The hoppy aroma is more subtle than some IPAs, and the initial taste is of grapefruit, grape and orange. A short-lived malty sweetness follows, then the rasp of the bitterness kicks in. And stays there. Not the most visually attractive beer; it’s murky brown / orange with a decent foamy head and lacing. But it’s the taste that really counts, and the bitter finish does it for me.

Keg at Beergeek. I remember drinking a bottle of this with Benh years ago also. Pours Deep Amber with a White head. It’s got a pronounced malty sweetness with plenty of bitter citrus fruit to counterbalance it. Really well put together. The hops aren’t wildly dominant in the way that I usually enjoy yet Everything pulls together beautifully.

Bottle: Aroma is malty, pine, citrus and caramel. Taste is sweet with light bitterness grapefruit, some alcohol. Finish is pine-bitter. I had the impression this was more of a imperial IPA. Nevermind, excellent beer!

At the Roundhouse. Solid maple syrup brown with small bubbly white head and long legs. Smells of malt, a bit of wheat, yeasty floral hop. Tastes very deeply bitter, resinous and a bit grassy/musty. Body is a bit sudsy, almost like the foamy palate of a wheat beer. Good, big beer though taste is slightly unbalanced.

Tap from Roundhouse. Opaque dark amber pour. Resiny piney hops aroma. Very resinous and piney hops flavor with citrus peel but still manages to have a clean crisp flavor. Very easy drinking but rich and flavorful. Great IPA
