Mikkeller’s tribute to the green gold.

Draught at Bishops Arms Mollbergs, Helsingborg. 24th September 2011.
Pours hazy yellow-orange opaque with a creamy beige head. Heavy aromas of pine needles and grapefruit. There’s also a creamy rich sweetness in the nose. The body and flavours are big and bold. A large portion of hops and bitterness in the taste. Though it’s still smooth and quite sweet at the same time making it very drinkable.

Bottle from the Hope Valley Bottle Shop, Durham. Very dark orange pour, fluffy head, massive sticky lacing everywhere. Strange turned fruit and cantaloupe in the nose, along with a good booze kick for 7%. Odd and harsh for what I expected to be a pert, balanced pale. But in time it settles in to be pretty decent, fulsome, piney, with some nice creamy notes in the otherwise dry, sharp finish. Coulda been a contender, but still had its moments.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy, medium amber, with a decent, creamy head. Aroma is of flowery hops, honey and nectar, with some adjunct grain giving a nice creamy body. Flavour is sweetly pine, resin and some malt, with a nice growing bitterness of orange peel throughout the finish.

Hazy gold brown with a massive crown floating on top, looks like a yummy beer. Aroma is yummy but not that aggressive. Peach, pine, sweetness and bitter this all smells wonderful. Taste is the same but the bitter is wicked strong and lingers. Yummmmmmmmmm lemon lime hoppy goodness. Nice thick malt with a caramel flavour. Pretty good IPA, nice and simple, flavorful, highly drinkable, but nothing that makes it stand out and with the high price tag I’ll probably never but it again.

330 ml bottle. Hazy orange-brown colour, thin but lasting light beige head. Aroma of grapefruit, oranges, malt and grassy hops. The flavour is citrus-fruity, malty, with a long, bitter hoppy finish. Nicely dry, very tasty.

Cloudy orange/brown color in the Mikkeller tulip. Big light tan head. Creamy and slow to fade, with lacing galore left behind. Big bouquet of hops and a malty aroma mixing in the nose. A little citrusy, piney and flowery. Huge alcohol presence in the taste. Mixed in with a barleywine type of maltiness. Presence of hops, but not overly so. More malty and dry, but a sweet - almost cloying sweet - dryness. Very light mouthfeel for as much malt is present in the taste. It’s like a dry, light, barleywine. Not too shabby.
