COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mikkeller’s tribute to the green gold.

Thanks to thirdeye11 for sharing this bottle. The beer pours a golden-orange color with a white head. The aroma is heavy on the perfume and bubblegum, with some grapefruit and bready malt mixed in. The flavor is very heavy on the grapefruit and other tropical fruit. There is a nice bread malt backbone and the bitterness is pretty low. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Strykzone (5384) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - APR 14, 2011
Cloudy golden tea colored with a three finger tangerine colored foam. Some very nice citrus hops are in the nose. There is nothing subtle about the flavor. The hops come right at you. Citrus fruit that is resinous, tangerine, caramel, tart grapefruit, dry toffee. This beer is as aggressive as most IIPAs. It is a hop lovers dream.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours into my Stone RIS snifter as a turbid pumpkin colored ale with ruby edges and a 3-finger off-white clingy head. Nose is great; heavy tropical fruit;l tangerine, pineapple, black pepper, resiny hops, caramel malt. Yeha, that’s a 10 for nose, and if you’re not down with that, I got two words for ya. Tastes rich, very resiny and IBU laden, with earthy tangerine, pineapple, resin, black pepper, and a huge caramel malt bill. Palate is smooth, complex, hoppy and resiny as hell, yet stays balanced. The repour gives a funky head configuration, even more IBUs and caramel malt, and a truly delicious beer. Green gold indeed (I hear that’s what Al Gore calls his penis, then goes and turns on every air conditioner in his mansion while asking the middle and lower classes to cut back and then going and attempting to take Tipper in the back door while listening to Pantera). This is the 2nd great hop bomb I’ve had this week.

Aroma is sweet malts, caramel and toffee. Some hops there as well. Taste is caramel malts, sweet and almost sticky. Hops kicks in with tropical fruits; pineaple and citrus. Finish is bitter and a robust hay taste (oat flakes?).
Earlier Rating: 7/19/2010 Total Score: 3.6
Aroma is hoppy, funky and very barn-hay-ish. Taste is dominated by hops, yet malty and above aroma.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2011 330ml bottle, as Green Easter IPA. Pours a deep, cloudy orange, and a light brown head. Pronounced floral hoppiness on the nose, lots of pine resin, grapefruit peel, passionfruit, mango, light caramel, malt, light earthy/smoky/phenolic note, rubber, iodine, bay leaves, kiwi peel. Off dry, medium to full bodied, marked bitterness, balanced CO2. Very hoppy and fruity taste, passionfruit, grapefruit peel, pine resin/needles, spices, floral, earth, yeast, green peas, alcohol. A very fruity IPA, so hoppy you almost want to spit out the cones... (2011-04-11).

330ml Bottle (as Green Easter IPA) - Copper with a slight haze and a foamy head. Pine, toffee and grapefruit in the aroma. Tangy and hoppy taste with notes of grapefruit, toffee and syrup. The finish is rather tangy and leaves a tingling sensation on the tongue.

LoFi (1639) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - APR 8, 2011
UPDATED: AUG 9, 2011 Bottle as Green Easter. Hazy orange copper with a large, beige to yellow porous head leaving lacing. Aroma: lots of hops, citrus, pine, and tropical fruits, caramel, licorice. Taste: citrus, pine, resin, caramel, salmiak, medium but growing bitterness, dry finish. Medium bodied, feels like pollen on the palate. Fresh and drinkable, this is really good. 8/4/8/4/17=4.1
Finally get a chance to have this on draught. Fresher and hoppier than on bottle, still has a great balance between the citrusy, piny hops and the caramel. One of my favourite "single" IPAs.
