Mikkeller’s tribute to the green gold.

Tap at Mayor of Old Town - hazy gold - extremely dry IPA, exploding with citrus and dank earthiness - lemon and orange rind - pine resin - some Biscuity maltiness underneath it all the give those hops something to cling to - an excellent IPA.

From notes. One of the better Mikkeller IPAs that I’ve tried, but not my favorite. Pours a fairly dark amber-orange with a beige head. Aroma is quite hoppy. Big notes of grass, wildflowers, lemons, tangerines, minerals and earth. There’s a pretty strong caramel malt flavor, as well. The taste has a lot of that same caramel malt and European-ish hops. It’s a bit more of a hop nectar than I normally prefer, but Mikkeller is much better at crafting this type of IPA than most brewers, so it still works pretty well. Pretty thick on the palate for the abv. Good stuff.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of earthy hops is dominating with some medium notes of dry caramel malt. Taste is dominated by earthy hops notes which are quite pleasant though I prefer more citrus oriented IPA. Body is quite full with limited filtration and good carbonation. Well brewed and packs a good hops punch without being a one-dimensional bitter bomb.

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2015 A pretty run of the mill citrusy ipa with a bit more caramel malt sweetness than I’d like. Could be better, could be worse; would prefer to try on draft. Pretty much the same in the can as it was years ago in the bottle: too malty to be my style of IPA, but not bad.

POurs caramel colored with fluffy head. Flavor is perfectly balanced with equal parts creaminess and pithy citrus notes. Gorgeous brew.

Hazy brownish/gold pour. Creamy head. I get a mix of citrus hops, earthy tones, bread, caramel malt, and a nutty and honey aroma. Flavor is quite hoppy, bitter, resin, citrus, and the malt in the nose is lighter in the flavor than I would have thought. Nice.

Bottle 33 cl. Poured dark amber in colour with a massive slightly tanned thick and creamy head. Sweet, lots of piney notes, grassy hops and some tropical flowers in aroma. Very pleasant so far. Leaves a nice lacing on the glass. Flavour grassy and malty mixed quite strong pine and grapefruit taste. Easy to drink and no sign of the abv. Nice grassy aftertaste with a hint of tropical sweet fruityness. Highly enjoyable brew.

Pours dark orange with a medium foamy and sticky head. Aroma has notes of citrusy hops, dark fruits and malts. Taste is quite dry and hoppy with slight notes of sweet malts and hints of dark fruits. Long lasting, bitter and fruity finish. Great, but slightly unbalanced IPA.
