4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JUN 7, 2011 Like the man says, Mikkeller er klar med endnu en IPA, der ikke er bange for at leve op til navnet. Golden brown pour with massive pillowy head. Orange-bread and hops on the nose. Delicious. Lingering bitter aftertaste. Head settles to 1/2 inch or so, leaving glass from central casting. Very balanced. Very nice. If Mikkeller were a sneaky hot brunette librarian with a swimmer’s body underneath that understated label, I’d marry her. Er, him.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Kind of an odd duck, but pretty good. Served with a very large, foamy, frothy, light tan head that lasted a long time and lots of lace. Color is a hazy medium amber. Aroma is a pungent blend of caramel, citrus hop, malt, yeast. Flavor is like nose and oddly, despite how full flavored it is, still balanced in some odd sense. Body is full, good and carbonation is a bit on the light side. Finish is like flavor, of medium length.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a cloudy rich amber color with thick head with orange-tinged head. Aroma is of ripe fruit, citrus, hops, and light grassy notes. Taste is light clementines, light lemon, grapefruit and light flaky biscuit malt. Rich carbonation, full bodied, and simple delicious. Well done.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Greens. Deep orange pour with a big white fizzy head, lots of carbonation. Good retention. Aroma was juicy citrus fruits, big pine presence, fresh as can be. Beautiful. Lots of citrus from top to bottom, super clean all around. Oily mouthfeel with tingly carbonation. Medium bitter in the finish, smooth. Very well done. Another excellent offering from Mikkeller.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a semi-transparent golden amber. Big bubbles on a 1-inch head, quickly subsiding to a patchy coating. Aroma is gloriously hoppy: pine, grassy, dank, with hints of orange -- in addition to nice caramel malts. Taste is super bitter, full of the goodness of hops. It explodes on your tongue and sparkles like a good fireworks display. Aftertaste is bitter, finish is long and somewhat dry, mouthfeel is full and oily. This is a brilliant example of an American-style IPA, and I think a lot of stateside brewers are wishing they could create such an amazing brew.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle thanks to Eric. Pours a dark golden color with a medium white head. A nice aggressive fresh hop citrus aroma. The flavor is similarly distinguished by a very raw hop flavor, some bitterness, light pale malt background. More bitter than fruity. Nice.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
11.2oz bottle with deyholla, thanks Derek! Pours a cloudy amber-orange colored body with a finger-width, dense and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is big on the fresh, zesty citrus-lemons with some bready caramels, florals, sweet and sticky pines, and some sweeter toffees. Flavor is bitter with lots of citrus pines and florals, doughy caramel, and toffee with a light sweetness. Finishes with a medium-high bitterness that dries and leaves a lengthy aftertaste. Medium, somewhat oily body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty straightforward, but tasty IPA. Lots of fresh hops made this solid.
