3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Gold aside, this lovely slightly cloudy amber-coloured beer with a finger of dense tan head is exceptionally good looking. And that head isn’t going anywhere. The green steps up with a really nice hoppy nose of resin and pine. The taste too is dominated by, not overwhelmed, by hops. Bitterness, perfume, a little resin, supported by a malt back that adds a little caramel sweetness. The aftertaste is bitter hops, and a little perfume. (I’m starting to wonder if it’s me with all this bitter aftertaste. That’s three in a row, all on different days.) I like it, and my drinking buddies will attest that I’m getting tired of all the damn IPA’s out there on the market. Good on ya’ Mikkeller.

3.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Strong aroma of pineapple and apricot. Cloudy brown with a tan head. Malt up front which drops into a heavy bitter aftertaste with a lot going on, nice and a bit weird!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep woods brown with a one inch sticky foam cap. Name’s a little on the deceptive side: it’s not so much a green gold ipa (I.e. hop juice) as it is brown gold (ie deep malt backbone that pushes the hops a bit to the side). It’s a good brew, that does things i like, but I was expecting more than this. Recommended but overrated on this site.

Oct. 21, 2014. Bottle from LCBO. Medium warm brown colour with off-white head. Much darker than anticipated based on the style. Lovely foamy head. Biscuit, straw, lemon flavours and aromas, with a nice maltly backbone to offset the bitterness. I quite enjoyed this one.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml lcbo purchase. Pours a hazy murky brownish/light red colour. I get the hops and the resinous styled of this brew but there is almost this almost cucumber note that I can’t quite place. On the palate it find it a slightly new take on the style as it has a certain medicinal flavour or something. Strange brew.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Fruity subtle smell. Hoppy, bitter. More subtle than usual Mikkellers. Dry astringent, leather, lots of resin.
