Hazy yellow/orange with a large creamy good lasting white head. More lacing than the low. Passion fruit, apricot, light pine, light bread, light caramel light alcoholic. A bit more dominated by fruity notes than the low version. Doesn’t feel quite as heavy either, I choose this one. Full body, medium sweet and bitter with a bitter finish that doesn’t seem quite as rough as the low version. All in all this makes for a pretty good IIPA. So I prefer top fermentation. I am a top.

From a 330ml bottle on 7/2/2014. Pours an uber cloudy dark orange with a minimal head, with lots of yeast sediment floating around. The aroma is actually a touch muted for an imperial IPA, though there’s still lots to experience - particularly caramel, citrus fruit and marmalade. If the nose is modest, it’s made up for in the flavour which is very intense. It has a sweet malt backbone, but this is ultimately a big fruit party, with oodles of citrus (orange, lemon, tangerine), stone (peach, apricot) and tropical (mango) fruit flavours, more marmalade and peel. The bitterness is huge - resiny, dry, and almost salty. The palate is quite syrupy and the carbonation medium. Exceptionally tasty and extremely enjoyable stuff.

Hazy bright orange pour with a good sized fluffy white head. Big aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, caramel and coriander. Big juicy citrus flavours, bitter lemon, salted caramel, bubblegum and buttery toast. The bitterness is full on, but the malty sweetness balances well. Big pine resins give a great sharpness. The finish is bitter and salty, however very refreshing, and awesome fruit bowl IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a cloudy orangy copper with at looks like suspended hop sediment, huge white head and a lot of lace. Aroma is sweet citrus, oranges specifically, grainy, mild caramel, light toast, and faint alcohol. Flavour is grapefruit, oranges, caramel, alcohol, toast, med-high lingering bitterness, and toasted notes.

Reimer96 (1161) - Alberta, CANADA - JAN 4, 2014
Pours a hazy yellowish orange with some sediment in suspension and a huge frothy white head that leaves lots of sticky lace. Aroma of sweet caramel, citrus hops, cereal and a bit of toast. Taste is citrus hops, sweet caramel, orange peel, pine needles and finishes medium dry. Excellent imperial ipa... Could use more Aroma but the balance of malts and hops on the palate is great.

Bottle, shared with BBGTC. Pours a slightly hazy orange body with a small white head. Nose is mellow malt tones, faint alcohol and hints of biscuits and weak red fruits. Taste is fruity malt tones, red berries, hints of leaves, spruce, resin and hints of bread. Full body, medium carbonation. Fair enough, and probably a bit better than the Hop Burn Low (both ratings are from bottles of similar age).
