2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
On draught @ Sail & Anchor, Fremantle.
Bright copper with a lasting white pad and minimal lace. Solvent, fusel nose with traces of rubber, burnt plastic, pineapple and caramelised citrus - a nice scent for a paint stripper. Alcohol; boozy ethanol, well lagered is my impression of this one. Plastic, hot and chemically polluted. Drenching citrus notes are sadly like sucking on a vitamin C tablet laced with lysergic diethylamide. I couldn’t sit straight after downing it. Oddly bready, substantially heady, dry and wry in its one dimensional approach. Too much of nothing at all had me falling asleep if it weren’t for the burn in my throat. I don’t get it. I nodded off all warm inside and hallucinating!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg @ CPK. The pour’s deep amber with a tiny head. The nose is mango, bright fruits, sugary white bread and mild forest berry. The taste is much the same. Quite crisp and fruity with just a hint of alcohol burn on the finish to suggest the ABV. This really doesn’t drink as a lager, more of a slightly dulled DIPA. Medium body, a bit of a sipper. Overall, not bad stuff! Yet another interesting experiment from the Mikkeller laboratory.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg at CP&K, thanks to Leighton. It pours golden orange, with a medium off-white head. The nose is orange, tangerine, sherbet, icing sugar and fruit salad sweets. The taste is sticky orange, tangerine, fruit syrup, tangy marmalade, lemonade, fruit salad and some alcohol warmth, with a dry, tangy finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty tasty stuff indeed.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Keg at CPK, London. Pours clear, rich gold with a fine, white foam head. Big, jammy orange citrus nose, some tangerine, some ripe citrus. Big sweet flavor, sticky and ripe citrus, orange, melon. Lots of pectin here. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Sticky, resinous finish, lots more juicy citrus, orange, tangerine. Big, sweet, lots of ripe citrus. Would never guess this is a lager. Good one.

On tap(@Zubatý pes, Praha-Vršovice):Deep golden to light amber coloured, stable creamy white head, moderate to solid herbal-hoppy and malty-fruity nose; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, full bodied; lingering and drier, but still sweet, hoppy and caramelly finish with a warming alcohol burn in the aftertaste. 3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg @ Red Squirrel, Edinburgh 031012
Orange amber, bit hazy, bubbly white head, good lacing
Aroma - rich resinous malts, some honey, very resinous
Taste - rich resinous malts, some orange zest malts, soft barley sugar caramel, bitter resinous hop, piney hop, alcohol fairly well hidden, rich sweet malts temper the big hop profile, bit malty though
Palate - medium carb, medium to full body. Oily texture - quite heavy palate. Finish - rich sweet pale malts then the bitterness takes over, long lingering, quite mouth puckering, quite biting hop bitterness
Overall - This was pretty good overall but it was a tad too malty for me

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Mikkeller Bar. A small, off-white head sits patiently on top of a semi-clear, golden body. Citrus, some peaches and a syrupy sweetness in the aroma. The flavor is quite sweet, with citrus peel, pine cones, some faint maltyness and lots of bitterness. Full body, warming and pleasantly carbonated. Bitter finish with alcohol, pine cones and resin notes. A beer that lacks balance, and is too warm, but it’s still a nice one indeed. 120510

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from De Molen shop, Bodegraven, Netherlands, consumed outside Frank (camper) at Camping de Vliert, nr Uterecht Saturday 29th September 2012 Pours lagery gold with a thin white head and middling carbonation. Rather sweet initially and whilst it is hoppy it doesn’t burn at all, however just noticed it is Hop Burn low, I never knew there were two versions, so I guess that us why the hop burn isn’t so bad. Quite thick in mouth, good but not great, thick and a little sryupy in mouth. Btw just noticed that the front label of this states Hop Burn Low whilst the back (ingredients) label states Hop Burn High. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1
