White foamy head that leaves some lacing on the glass. Clear golden liquid. Sweet aroma of a barleywine. Taste goes from a hoppy start, that mysteriously evolves into a licorice-like carameltasting ipa. Some bitterness in the aftertaste. Will definately try to get my hands on more of these.

33 cl bottle, Calgary, AB, Canada via Zyn. Hazy deep gold colour, massive hop-nectarine aroma. Grassy, syrupy with some honey, then expanding pine resin finish. High alcohol at the end, nice long burn. Great.

Pours hazy pale amber with one finger of light tan head diminishing gradually to a thin skim, moderate lacing. (4/5) Nose is aggressive citrus and tropical fruit, mild caramel malt. (9/10) Taste is moderate caramel sweet, intensely bitter pine resin ahead of citrus and tropical fruit, building spice. (9/10) Medium body and slightly oily texture, low sustained carbonation, and a spicy, lingering bitter finish, with an immediate warming in the gut from the high ABV, the high IBUs, or both. (5/5) This is very similar to its brother from another mother, the Hop Burn High (the major difference being thatís an ale instead of a lager like this one). Massive, ridiculous IBUís - this is so massively bitter that the caramel malt is initially more apparent, because the bitter receptors just max out and give up. It actually gets more bitter as the initial malt flavour subsides. So, yeah - the Mikkeller Draft Bear that I earlier this evening said was the best Imperial Pilsner I ever had? Short reign. (18/20)

Bottle at home. Pours hazy orange color, white head. Aroma is fruity, hoppy, citrusy, pine. Taste is bitter, medium sweet, grapefruit, orange, hoppy, floral, more like an IPA than lager, but for sure some pilsner notes. Not easy drinkable.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Stasís place. Thanks Stas & Vova. Hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of slightly stale hops, piney and resinous, slightly honey-ish malt and alcohol. Sweet flavor with honey-ish malt, slightly stale resinous hops, alcohol and strong bitterness. Medium-bodied. Too sweet and heavy and not fresh enough.

Smells of malt & honey. Exceptionally sweet for a lager but any drier & the alcohol would probably show it's head. The hops blend well with the sweetness adding piney, woody & herbal notes. I think this beer is trying a little too hard to be extreme & I can't help but feel it would be better if it was toned down an little. Rated by BrewTom

First impression that really stuck with me from this one was, 10%?? No way. I have never tasted a strong beer with such well hidden alcohol note. Aroma is hoppy and malty with definite pilsner tones. Some particles floating around indicating a natural and hopped up beer, looks not so tasty but still i like it. Tastewise my favourite Lager fermented beer, the balance is hard to describe with anything else than flawless. Bottle from Mikkellers webshop.
