This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottle. Pour is as others. Aroma is far more subtle and floral than the others with faint notes of yeast and a light spiciness. I think its just more subtle and the malt comes through more. Flavor is also very floral with notes of spice and faint chamomile. Very drinkable.

Draft. Rich amber beer with a cream colored head. Malt and light caramel aroma with light grass. Caramel and malt flavor with light vanilla and light pine. Medium bodied. Some bitterness. Caramel and malt lingers with light vanilla, light pine, and light earthiness. Too sweet, little hops.

Pours clear golden amber with a good sized soapy beige head. The aroma has a fruitiness that is a mix between nectar fruits and citrus along with some spice and light band aid. There is some smooth caramel maltiness and cream. Medium crisp body that’s lightly husky with fairly soft carbonation. The flavor starts of with dry caramel, spice, citrus, earthiness, pine and a dirtiness to the whole thing. The finish is very earthy and rustic. Not sure rustic is a good thing for an IPA. This one was just okay to me.

Orange beer, head should hold a bit longer but sticks good to the glass. Smell is unpleasant for me. Light sour-rotten fruits. Taste is slightly better, but the combination sourness-biterness and the light fruitiness isn’t totally my kind of hop.

I thought the beer was very good and sweet. I like the single hop idea. I was going to go with one from Japan but was encouraged to try his and it was good.

33cl, new Danish brew Anno 2011, from De Hopduvel Gent, not complex brew, slightly bitter and malty, yet easy to drink, balanced, clear, rocky head, nice brew

Tap at Blind tiger for hop series - nice piney aroma. Dry, astringent, mild, unassuming hop. Light spice. A bit sharp on the tongue, very light sulfur at finish
