This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottle from Ledgers. Pours clear copper with a 2 finger creamy light beige head. Aroma is bready with peppery hop. Med body. Foamy carb. Flavor is earthy, lightly malty, and peppery/grassy. Odd that it’s not bitter. Well, it is, but it isn’t NW by a long shot. This hop ought to be good for saisons. The earthiness is in the finish.

Odense single hop extravaganza May 16 2011. Clear amber beer with a lasting off-white head. Weak grassy aroma with a touch of bready and caramel malt. Sweetish, dominated by malt flavour with grassy and wooden hop notes. Mild bitterness

Bottle, bought @ LIVA, Kolding.
Clear coppery golden with a big, rather creamy, off-white head. Aroma is floral, some cucumber, light citric. Light grass. Highish carbonation, fairly light and quite dry mouthfeel. Flavour has grass, caramel malty. Fairly fat and resiny with some citrus and a bit of peach. Long, lingering, sharpish bitterness. Not the best hop, really.
