COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottle. Pours with a clear orange to amber hued body with a thick, off-white head. Good lace with pretty decent retention as well (same appearance descriptor for all of the beers in this series). Aromas are fruity, grainy, lightly woodsy, marmalade, some alcohol, very light citrus. Flavors are bready, woodsy, light marmalade, delicate citrus, bready with medium bitterness. Finish is a touch harsh in bitterness (at least compared to the Magnum or even Warrior; I guess this has more co-humulone, but I haven’t looked into that). Medium bubbles, dryish.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Bottle. Hazy murky orange pour with suspended sediment, and a nice thick soapy white head with good lacing. Nose is herbal and woodsy, maybe a touch of citrus. Medium palate. Taste is also herbal and light citrus. Decent.

On tap at Rattle N Hum during their Mikkeller single hop series event. All of them pour pretty much the same, ruby tinged amber with medium to thick beige heads, depending on the pour. The malt profile on them is all fairly consistent as well, tending to be a bit too sweet for my tastes, often masking some of the more delicate hops. Aromas of bubblegum and fruit. Juicy Fruit, and Frute Stripe gum. Malt, spicy bubblegum and big fruit on the finish.

Draft @ Moeder Lambic.

330mL bottle generously sent across the pond by stobbe74. The bottle pours copper with gold edges and a bit hazy when the yeasty sediment is involved. The hop laden liquid supports a near white sort of head. The aroma is on the light side and offers up earthy cardboard and a faint wine like note. The taste has the malts shining through with meek spicy hops and sort of neutral earthiness trying to be heard in this lightly hopped brew.

33 cl bottle.
Pours hazy orange color with a large head. Aroma of sweet fruits, some caramel malts, mild pine needle notes and hops. Flavor of goose berries, resiny hops, caramel malts and mild yeast notes, some apricot on the aftertaste. Medium to strong carbonation, somewhat bitter fruity palate. Decent.

Medium amber coloured and hazy. Has an off-white head, almost fully lasting. Has a heavy hoppy aroma, faint almond, a note of caramel. Flavor starts moderate sweet and finish heavy bitter. Dry texture and soft carbonation.

Bottled. Poured cloudy medium orange with a tall, creamy off-white head. The aroma picked up dank tropical citrus and earthy hoppage over warm, honey-kissed bready malts.. came across quite malty. The flavor found more honey than anything else at the core, with grapefruit and spicy pine bitterness around.. finished tacky and a little cloying, with peppery and grapefruit bitterness over the top. Medium-bodied with just an OK flow through the palate.. not my favorite of the series.

Bottle from Wine and Cheese Place shared among a group of five locals. Pours a clear orange-copper color with a small off-white head that leaves a bit of lace- all 19 looked like this. This one smelled like stinky wet grass for the most part, and hay and grass linger in the nose. The flavor is better, with tea, toast, earth, and wet grains in addition to the grassy hops. Light-bodied and bitter. One of the weakest in the series.
