COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Draft. Rich amber beer with a cream colored head. Malt and light caramel aroma with light grass. Caramel and malt flavor with light vanilla and light pine. Medium bodied. Some bitterness. Caramel and malt lingers with light vanilla, light pine, and light earthiness. Too sweet, little hops.

330mL bottle generously sent across the pond by stobbe74. The bottle pours copper with gold edges and a bit hazy when the yeasty sediment is involved. The hop laden liquid supports a near white sort of head. The aroma is on the light side and offers up earthy cardboard and a faint wine like note. The taste has the malts shining through with meek spicy hops and sort of neutral earthiness trying to be heard in this lightly hopped brew.

Scopey (6661) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 11, 2011
Bottle at the Mikkeller Single Hop Series tasting at the Kernel Brewery. It pours clear amber, with a thick off-white head and moderate carbonation. The nose is sweet orange, sticky pineapple, dust and pine. The taste is white grape, weak orange, lemon and lime, bread hay and grass, with a bitter-sweet finish. This hop is not as bad as anticipated, a decent IPA.

Draft @ Moeder Lambic.

On tap at Rattle N Hum during their Mikkeller single hop series event. All of them pour pretty much the same, ruby tinged amber with medium to thick beige heads, depending on the pour. The malt profile on them is all fairly consistent as well, tending to be a bit too sweet for my tastes, often masking some of the more delicate hops. Aromas of bubblegum and fruit. Juicy Fruit, and Frute Stripe gum. Malt, spicy bubblegum and big fruit on the finish.

Hansen (6569) - Assentoft, DENMARK - OCT 2, 2011
Medium amber coloured and hazy. Has an off-white head, almost fully lasting. Has a heavy hoppy aroma, faint almond, a note of caramel. Flavor starts moderate sweet and finish heavy bitter. Dry texture and soft carbonation.

marcus (6421) - Sacramento, California, USA - NOV 16, 2011
Bottle from City Beer. Pours copper with a thick beige head and a piney aroma. There is a slightly off toffee flavor with a sour and bitter finish. Not a good hop for this series.

Bottle 330 ml (Blue Monk’s Mikkeler Hop Series Tasting)
Aroma mild nose, light tartness , plum , ripe fruit and alcohol. 7+.
Appearance small floaters , amber in color. Light creamy top, small lace shown.3+
Flavor and Palate : medium bodied, smooth with slight citrus. Hint of spice, peppery with alcohol on top. Drinkable, slight harshness at finish.

phaleslu (6349) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 11, 2011
Bottle from Wine and Cheese Place shared among a group of five locals. Pours a clear orange-copper color with a small off-white head that leaves a bit of lace- all 19 looked like this. This one smelled like stinky wet grass for the most part, and hay and grass linger in the nose. The flavor is better, with tea, toast, earth, and wet grains in addition to the grassy hops. Light-bodied and bitter. One of the weakest in the series.
