This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Decent beer, though I wouldn’t label it an IPA. Aroma and flavor were identical. Strong caramel flavor, almost milky, with a sweet sticky sugary finish. No hops present, this beer almost tastes like a sweet lighter barley wine. This could almost be a sweet after dinner desert. Nice carbonation.

Pours a dirty brown color, completely hazy with some debris flowing around. Topped with an average sized beige colored head. Caramel aroma, some biscuity notes and tiny fruity notes. Taste is sweet and biscuity, caramel and some spicy feel in the end. A gentle but very nice.

As goes for all the Hop Series beers I’ve tasted: the bottles were probably quite old, best before of April/May 2015, so some of the hop characteristics might have already gone away. Nice orange color with big head (darkness varied a bit). Very piney and resinous, american style. Sweet. Good finish with lingering bitterness and full body. Very good!

"this one was a bit too mellow for me. drank it 2nd of 9. ranked it 9th. slightly fruity and spicy in the aroma and flavor, but both were subdued. ok, but the most boring of the night. 51 ibu."

Bottle @ Flandes. I guess this one has been on the shelf for a while. Clear orange colour, medium dense beite head. Quite some yeast floaties. Nose is caramel, light hoppy, with a bit of citrus and pine. Flavour is malty, caramel, creamy, light citric. Medium carbonation. Finish is fairly bitter.

330ml bottle from Thistle News, Aberdeen. Muddy reddish amber brown, good head. Complex earthy grain hop aroma. Sour caramel hop flavour. Bitter aftertaste. Not my favourite hop in this series.

Reviewed from notes: Pours a nice amber color with white head. Citrus and pine on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes clean.
