This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottle; Pour is murky dark golden with a nice off white head that retains fairly well in this glass - sticky lacing is present here as well. The nose I think is the highlight for me - a nice resinous piney hop profile coupled with nice citrus and lemon notes and a bit of caramel - The flavor profile seemed a touch underwhelming on this one - I was expecting more considering the hop in question - Its a fairly nice brew , either way.

Sampled on 9/2/2011. This India Pale ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 33cl bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is malt, cereal, fruity, sweet, and melon. A medium bodied India Pale Ale. The malts are cereal, fruity and sweet. The hops are floral, citrusy, grapefruity and melonish. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Lots of bitterness, which seems to hang around and not leave. Definitely has that Citra hop character. Touch of sweetness at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Lemon peel aroma. Bitter citrus lemon finish. A nice peppery aspect on the back of the palate. A good hop varietal with character and presence. A very nice one from my perspective.

Pours amber with a beige head. Aroma is passion fruit, orange, pineaplle, juicy hops, light bread and tangerine. Taste add some grass, lemon peel, pine and more juicyness.

Sampled at Mikkeller Hop Series tasting - Dahlbergs, Helsingborg. August 2011.
Big aromas of sour candy, sweets and lemon drops. Sweet citrus notes and sugar also shines through. Nice refreshing taste with a great hop character and just the right sweetness. Long round after taste.

2011-08-10. Orange body with a small beige head, some floaties. 3+ Flavour is pleasantly bitter, bit of citrus grows as you go. Little bit of caramel-earthy touches, mildly minerally in the finish. 7+ Less bitter than some of them. Pleasant aroma, mineral touches, modest hops. 6+ Average bodied palate. Decent. All 19 in this hop series are shared with my husband, Anton. It’s hazy bronze with a huge, creamy head. It has a delicious fruity aroma with notes of citrus and exotic fruits. The flavour is sweet with notes of loads of citrus fruits, but oranges and grapefruit stand out. I also find exotic fruits, and the finish is slightly dry and bitter. This hop is truly nice!

Bottle 33cl. A clear golden beer with good head. Nose is acid and not pleasant. Very dry feeling, acrid, very bitter, acid notes low fruit flavors. The worst stuff of the series.
