This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

330 ml @ Yngwies, all 19 varieties of single hop beers tasted at the same day in September 2011. Slightly unclear, deep golden body with a dense off-white head. Mild in aroma, light fruity, flowers and caramel. Flavor has caramel malt with a soft fruitiness, berries and apices. Relatively bitter and an aftertaste with bitterness and hint of fruit. Decent.

A concept Iíve tried as a home brewer. Creating beers exactly the same except for the hop variety. This one comes off well with a mild fruity aroma, slightly sweet. the beer is cloudy amber with a small lacing head. The flavor has a nice sweet base with a nice balance of bitter hops to keep it clean and refreshing. This hop variety leaves the beer a bit bland which is why hops are mixed for better out comes but well done anyway and keep experimenting.

Bottle looks okay. Beer in the glass golden-copper coloured, small head. Woody-hoppy aroma. Starts intense hoppy, quite dry, almost a bit salty. Prickly with light fruity notes. Finish a bit milder. Aftertaste more dry. Interesting!

Tasting Session of Mikkeller Hop Series: Tasting nr 8. Darker amber coloured beer with some lighter carbonation and a medium slightly off white head. Fruity hoppy bitter hinted aroma. Full palate with some clear bitter hoppy hints.. Finish is longer rather fruity bitter hinted; Not bad.

The beer is dark amber colored with high, long-lasting, off-white head. Aromas of pine, also a bit caramel and malts. Starts with lots of caramel and pine wood, in the background strongly resinous, slightly fruity with citrus notes. The middle part is very bitter hoppy, with lots of pine and citrus, in the background something orange. Goes into a very fruity bitter finish with a lot of grapefruit, also slight hints of pine and orange.

Apple, fermented fruit, cheese, cereal. Light body but medium carbonation. Light bitter (for a Mikkeler IPA). Bit of a belgian aftertaste. Decent, but Mikkeller can do better. (At the Cask Pub and Kitchen)

Bottle at CPK, London. Pours clear amber with a foamy, white head. Toasty malt nose with leaves and dry fruits. Medium sweet flavor with toast, melon, light earth and light alcohol. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Light sticky finish, resinous, with ripe fruits, leaves and dirt. OK. A new hop for me.

Bottle @ CPK. Cheers to Leighton for the pour. Light amber color with a big white head. The nose is a big funky, sweet orange. Light green apple. The taste is fermented apple juice. Some golden graham sweet cereal. Some cinnamon and maple syrup. Quite malty, though this is an older bottle. Very silky mouthfeel. Active carbonation. Overall, pleasant beer.

Pour deep amber, with a very small whte head. Aroma of week pine, grass and mango. Think itís because this isnít fresh. Taste is medium bitter. Medium body, with a fizzy carb.
