This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottle poured a hazy honey colors with a white head and fair lacing. Aroma is a dusty sourness with piney notes, almost a lager smell. Flavors pine subtle bitter citrus notes, grapefruit and a dry wooded undertones. The Finish; dry, bitter subtle light fruit, earthy. Very interesting, I like what they are doing.

bottle. Amber with one finger head. Iíve had a lot of beers from this series by now, and this is certainly well past its prime, but I couldnít pass it by when I saw it in a bargain bin. Substantial malt base. Plenty of caramel sweetness. Fairly oxidized hops at this point, medium bitterness. Not bad, but Iíve enjoyed others in this series a lot more.

the cascade of yesteryear. Itís smooth and fruity but not too bitter or citrusy. Clearly noble-ish hops. As always, a good beer from Mikkeller.

Dark copper body, mild haze, half inch of tan head. Earthy, malty, herbal, grassy aroma. Malt forward. Ok flavor, but certainly not fresh. Please put a date on beers meant to be consumed fresh.

Pours a hazy orange-amber color, topped with a sizeable and lasting tan colored head. Lots of particles floating around. Initially some fruity notes, pine aroma and later on more biscuity and caramel aroma. Taste begins with some sweet biscuity notes, followed by a moderate hoppy bitterness and a slightly herbal aftertaste with some metallic notes. Not bad, but nothing really special.

borre_m (779) - NORWAY - DEC 11, 2014
Bottle expired. Pours cloudy very slight head. Aroma is strong, but more malts then hops. Taste is also not the greatest. some bitterness, but aroma is too sweet. Drink before expiration date, but if its over, its still drinkable.
