COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Pours a dark orange-amber with a fluffy off-white head and some floaties. There’s a big punch of tropical fruit on the nose - especially passionfruit - and some biscuit-like malt and pepper. The taste starts out with some light pear, before a moderate hop bitterness comes through with chewy malt. The finish is crisp and there’s a really pleasant lemony aftertaste. Nice.

Bottle at home. Pours a hazy brownish amber with a light beige creamy medium head. Aroma of pine, herbs, citrus, sour herbal hops and some rye. Lots of pine in the flavour as well along with resin and dry hops in the end. Has a rich and soft mouth feel, and a medium bitterness. A balanced and rich IPA.

Bottle, thanks to Leighton for this one, at the 500 miles tasting in the Sham, 23/03/13. Hazed dark amber with a very thin white head that dissipates to a film. Nose carries floral hops, perfumed notes, orange, caramel, grapefruit, light soap. Taste comprises caramel malt, hops, grass, orange, grapefruit, residual sugars. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, crisp and dry in the finish with some hop bitterness. One of my lesser favourites from this series!

33cl Bottle. Blind tasting of all 19 Mikkeller Hop Series beers. Appearance: amber beer, stable white head. Nose: sugar, fruits. Taste: fruity, this hop can give an extra dimension to a beer. The flavor reminds me a lot to other Mikkeller beers, don’t know if they use it, but it reminds me of it.

Pours thick and hazy....out of bottle. Smell bread and hay....bits of floral and herbs from the hops as well. Super dry on the palate...going to try the super Galena next....will compare both then. Overall, solid brew.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber color with a moderate white head. Nose has a nice dry floral element to it, yet smells more like an English bitter. Taste is decently bitter, with a bit of citrus sourness to it.

Bottle from BlackHearts&Sparrows. Very subtle hop, I like it. Aromas of cereal, nuts, light notes of liquorice. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes, and long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Amber, with a frothy head.

Bottle at Colin’s place the Sham during the 500 Miles Tasting. Pours clearish gold with a fine, creamy head. Nose has some toasty pine, earth, light toasty bread. Medium sweet flavor, light caramel, toast, pine. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Light resins to finish, bread, mild alcohol, pine, hints of dry leaves. So so.

Fra flaske på Humle i Annen mars-13: den femte av i alt 19 i serien. Nydelig aroma og rund, fin smak. Galena brukes mye i porter og stout. IBU 94.
