COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Part of a fourth flight of four out of nineteen</IB> 4 days test. Very dense, thick-set yellow/orange head over clear orange-amber beer. Warm hops, mild hopoils; dusty finish, not very outspoken. Soft, mild bitternes (leaving the mouthfeel quite carbonated, which it is not really showing), tad woody. Finish however, is good aromatic hopoils. Medium bodied at least, and indeed feeling well-carbonaed. Slick, spiced in the finish. Decent, with less emphasis on the hop than other samples.

Bottle from Kihoskh, Copenhagen, shared with Palme and friends. Pours a hazy deep orange body with a medium creamy off-white retention. Aroma is licorice, wood, hints of grapes, nuts and faint traces of salmiac. I’m immediately thinking that this is a hop variety that is heavily used in American-style Barley Wines, since it contains a lot of what I’m used to smelling when I dip my nose into a glass of ABW. Taste is piney, sprucey tones of bitter grass, while somehow retaining a rather high degree of mellowness. Hints of wet leaves. Nice. A solid, sprucey bitter IPA of the nice sort.
