COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

This pours hazy amber, with medium off-white foam head. This beer was brewed in 2011, so is not bitter nor hop-aromatic anymore. Because of Dranken Geers: huge beer shop but not serious for the shelflives! More than 3-4 months for a single hop IPA is a non-sense. All the identity and typicity of the beer is in its hop variety. Hop flavours and bitterness decrease really quickly. It smells old ale with some remaining hop notes but very light. Clean with a good mouthfeel, great beer but not an IPA anymore.

Hazy deep red - brown beer. Pale cream coloured head. Soft palate. Creamy malt. Love this hop! Passion fruit with a touch of lemon. A little tropical fruits in the background. Mild minerals in the semi dry finish.

33cl bottle at Tilt, Oslo. Pours hazy orange with an off-white head. Hoppy aroma with citrus, fruits, malt, caramel and some floral notes. Sweet and malty with a bitter, fruity and citrussy finish. Well balanced. Nice and refreshing IPA. (2012-12-08)

Heady amber. Grapefruit, grassy. Definite ibu quality. Top 9/19. Galena is a hop I'd like balanced by another. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled. Pours deep golden with a medium sized white head, that leaves a fair lacing. Nose of caramel and subdued citrus fruits and notes of exotic fruits. Sweet flavor that ends up dry and decent bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft CO2. Not the most matcedly IPA in the serie. . ★★★

Aroma of honey, hay and spruce. Flavour are quite diffferent, with orange as the main note. A bit different from the others, but quite pleasant.
