This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Heady amber. Grapefruit, grassy. Definite ibu quality. Top 9/19. Galena is a hop I'd like balanced by another. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33cl @ bottle. Ipa dalla solita scandinava MIkkeller. Ottimo l’aspetto e l’aroma, ma secondo me al gusto spicca troppo l’amaro.

Bottle - big foamy head, dark copper color, big tangerine and mild pine aroma and flavor, solid malt backbone, very bitter mouthfeel, not bad overall but not one of my favorites out of this series ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a hazy coppery brown color, topped with lots of lasting cream colored head. Malty aroma, decently present, notes of caramel, biscuits and some dark fruits can also be picked up. Taste is on the otehr hand hoppy and bitter from the start to finish, although some biscuity notes are in the aftertaste along with herbal feel. Not bad

Poured from an 11.2 fl oz. bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Smells of hops and caramelized malt. Appearance- The beer pours a dark orange color with a tan head with a lot of sediment floating in it. Taste- Hops and some malt, this turns into a slightly sweet finish. Palate- This is a medium bodied brew with light carbonation. It is a creamy feeling texture to it. Overall- An OK beer, it wasn’t floored by it. I didn’t really care for the texture.

Bottle, 0.33l. Hazy amber brown color with large frothy tan-like head, poor lacing and sparkling appearance. Aroma of dark fruits, peach, caramel and grassy hops. Taste starts with moderate sweet caramel malt, following is rich fruity, mouthfeel is mild spicy with emphasized alcohol note and heavy bitter finish with long aftertaste. Full body, oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. Better than majority English IPA’s made with UK hops...

Bottle @ home. Pours with a dark orange hazy colour, medium rocky off-white head. Aroma is slightly malty, medium hoppy, with mainly earthy notes, and additional notes of citrus; some spices in the background. Taste is slightly sweet, quite bitter. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation.

As goes for all the Hop Series beers I’ve tasted: the bottles were probably quite old, best before of April/May 2015, so some of the hop characteristics might have already gone away. Nice orange color with big head (darkness varied a bit). Bready-malty. Ripe ananas! Sweet and bitter. Not much of a finish. The ananas really is a highlight!

On draught at Belmont Station. Dark golden color. Aroma is prickly citrus hops. Taste is bitingly bitter, with harsh citrus acids. Glad to try the hop, but it is just a touch too acidic and bitter.

Tap sample . Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex earthy citrus hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy citrus bitter flavor with a moderate to heavy bitter finish of medium duration. Very good brew.
