This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

Bottle poured a clear amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of biscuit, earthiness, floral notes, light citrus and a hint of pine. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Part of a second flight of five out of nineteen 4 days test. Thick yellow head over clear foxy-amber beer, well-carbonated. Creamy, exotic fruit nose; rather demure, finishes with hopped, but indifferent malts. Medium bitter, hops, but again, indifferent, bit metallic, finally falling a bit dead. Long-lasting bitterness. Medium bodied at best, bit slick, even creamy texture. Not really exciting. Not a hop, particulary suited for dry-hopping, IMO.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2011 Bottle @ bottlecraft. Not impressed with the nose here...almost smells lagery but otherwise non discript. Frothy head on orange beer. Flavors not impressive either...bitter grass with metallic notes and a clashing combination with the malt profile...bitterness lingers and the flavors suck.

Bottle, kindly shared by Skinnyviking at Rune’s hotel-room tasting in Kbh. A finger of dense off-white head, over a medium full, clear reddish-amber body. Leafy and grassy hop aroma. Notes of eucalyptus and some sharpish yellow fruits. Oily and resinous bitterness. Earth, grass, evergreen and faint citrus for flavoring. An interesting variety. Complex.
